From a Facebook post by Pop Haydn this morning:

"Sad to hear of the sudden passing of Dennis Loomis. Rest in Peace."

First Ernest Earick, now this. What a sad week!

Wow. I always looked forward to his posts on the Shuffled, Not Stirred forum.

Sad to hear. I always enjoyed Dennis' column in MUM.

Dennis was always a gentleman on this forum and willing to help out anyone. That speaks a lot of his character. RIP.

Does anyone have information as to where to send condolences or what family members are involved?

God this hurts. I met Dennis in Ann Arbor in 1965. He was married to a woman named Bonnie at that time. I crashed on his couch many times. I shared a few illegal substances with him. We sessioned together on many many occasions. I went to my first convention in Detroit with him. (Milt Kort was there!) He introduced me to Hank Morehouse and the young kid who later became a famous comedy magician (also from Ann Arbor), as well as Marcello Truzzi, sociologist professor son of the great juggler Massimiliano Truzzi and founder of CSICOP (an organization created to investigate various pseudosciences and protosciences. I also met Doug Henning once at Dennis house sitting cross-legged on the floor of the living room trying to levitate.

Dennis and I were very close friends until we both left Ann Arbor. I corresponded with him from time to time. God I will miss his presence on this earth.

Dennis and I sessioned many times in the 1962-1963 time frame when we were both living in South Quad at the U of M in Ann Arbor. We stayed in touch on a very spotty basis. He was always a gentleman. I think the last time I saw him was a couple of years ago at either Magic Live or MINDvention. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

Yes, Bob Steiner in January and now Dennis. Two of the great ones from Northern California. The year is not starting out well.

Such sad news. It was only a few weeks ago I was talking with Dennis via email. He was very kind and generous with his time. I will miss his contributions here.
