Didn't care for it.
I think the Locked Deck is a more interesting trick. No, the card isn't signed and it's forced, but I think a vanish and reappearance plays better. A goofy presentation, but you get the idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc4Y5PrYDlA |

Demo shows a signed card. Can all phases be done with signed card?

I didn't care much for it either. I could see it playing well for some but not my style.

Nope, the card can only be signed for the first phase (ambitious one) not the escape one.

I always think Mickael Chatelain's tricks are clever but overpriced

Really clever, but feels not very motivated. Like it though.

I have to admit that the gimmick is clever, a lot more than you could think but it's usual with Mr. Chatelain. I sold my unit because it didn't represent what I do in magic. Keep in mind that the trick you see in the video is the trick people will se in real life so if you like it, go buy it !

I'm a fan of Chatelain. I got Alcatraz Box, took me months to find a copy. Will probably pick this up and get a full sense of the effect with my own two mitts before it runs out everywhere.
My first name rhymes with Magician

Has anyone else noticed that on the instructional DVD, the instructions for Routine 1 in English are actually a duplicate of the Instructions for Routine + Magnet (the "easy" routine)... on my DVD, the only explanation of the first routine are in French. Oh well, have to figure it out by the visuals alone. Not too hard.

I had the same issue with the dvd as stated above. not a big deal though. As far as the trick goes....
The gimmick is solid. Perfect construction - I was excited to see that it worked so well. Performance issues to be aware of: There is a sound issue to get around as well as perfecting your technique for insertion into the gimmick. I am curious how this would play out with using a raven or phantom. Trick does not end clean. Gimmick is in an awkward spot considering the close up nature of the trick. Raven would possibly solve this. Another option would be to leave sharpie with spectator and use gimmick hand to take it back giving you a reason to go to pocket. Design issues: If you are giving out the cards / having them signed, you will only get so many goes before you deck is noticeably light. You will need to find a punch that can replicate hole size. I may be wrong but hole seems larger than average hole punch. I will check tomorrow. Overall a solid trick. A few issues to work around but it does work as advertised and should certainly get a positive audience reaction if performed properly. I did not feel like the suggested retail price was to high (around $50 if you support your local magic shop - less online if you don't have a local shop or do have one but don't care about the future of magic in your town.) I think this comes down to the noise levels and angles of where you perform. This trick does require a small amount of set-up. It is a stand alone effect in this regard. Overall - The demo says it all. It works as described. You can safely watch the demo and see if it fits your style. There are no camera tricks other than the standard "click" sound issue that accompanies the method used. I think this is a solid trick and does not mislead the consumer in any way. |

Hole does not match standard hold punch so you need to get one that matches. Until you do you will only get so many shots if you are having the cards signed. Suit matters in this effect and you only have a few before you need more. Biggest hiccup in the effect is perfecting inserting selected card back into the pack. Out of five stars I would give this an over all 3 -- I like it but don't love it. I think the dvd need to be a little more detailed and should address insertion to the pack as well as avoiding click sound. Also should adress hole size and how to get or make refils. Details on size and maybe stores that sell needed items. (by needed items I only mean correctly sized hole punch) I don't think you will be ****ed about price vs product. ...just not blown away. (Thats actually pretty good these days)

Does it need a forced card? Is the noise hard?
