I have seen it done, and I did not want to ask the performer, but I like this trick. Where can I find it?

There are probably many bill switch's that could be adapted for this (see the book Switch.)

Penguin Magic sells an effect called two dollar window which was designed specifically to convert 2 singles to 1 $2. It is nice for this. I convert the 2 singles to a $100 for a much bigger wow. Even today I had someone beg me to show them how I did it.

Al,
In addition to the above resource, Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Coin Miracles vol. 2 has "The $2 Bill Tear (Bert Jacques & Gene Keeney)" which starts as a $2 bill, which is 'torn' into two $1 bills, then turned back into the original $2 bill.

There's at least one Magic Café thread about it:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......&forum=3

Of course, there are other nice effects on the video, as well as on vol. 1 and 3 of the same series.

I have that three DVD Michael Ammar set "to Master Money Miracles". Man the things you could learn from your own DVD library.

Mary
You are always a sweet heart, and I look forward to receiving your instructions in the mail.

You have always been a valuable resource. I picked up a few tips from youtube too.

Vampiro
Thanks for your help, and I have gotten more good advise here than I can use.

Penguin Magic sells a DVD by Jay Noblezada which has such an effect. It's called "$2 Window." Here's a video demo:

It's a really cool idea... $2 bills are sort of a novelty these days.. if you could borrow both $1 bills from the same person getting to keep the $2 bill would be pretty cool.

Just in my mind thinking out loud... it could be cool to borrow 2 $1 bills, turn them into one $2 bill, and then turn that into 2 Gold Dollars that you give back to original lenders. That could be a nice routine.

There's so much stuff in Apocalypse.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

That's Sam Sandler's "Illusion of Fusion" which he explains on his DVD "No Gimmicks Needed."

Ammar published it, I think, in Encore III. My books are packed away for moving day, so I can't check. I still remember Earl Ray Wilcox performing it with 50s and a 100, as a close-up piece under challenge conditions - it was a reputation maker in his hands.

I noted above an effect that Peter Marshall and I contributed to the October 1997 issue of Apocalypse.

I also contributed a $2 bill effect to the July 1996 issue of Apocalypse which is a climax to a routine of "one in the hand one in the pocket" with two always back in the hand.

The last time only one bill is in the hand and the magican shows it is a $2 bill.

I will probably post this as a Perverse Magic effect on the Perverse Magic thread of the Genii Forum perhaps next month.

I loved the Ammar version, and performed it regulary. Took some practice to get it down smoothly. In fact, it's laying right here in front of me on my prop table now. I have recently been considering dusting it off and re-learning it again.

Good stuff!

Love this effect. in my wallet at all times. I found it easy to perform after a few min of practice. I learned it from jay noblezada's money video.

I keep folded $2 bills in my wallet, pushed way down inside to the bottom, and never keep singles where they can be seen. This allows me to search for some singles, steal the bill and ask to borrow two singles, preferably from the same person so I can return the $2 bill to him or her in fair exchange for the singles. I rarely get asked to change them back. I use Sam Sandler's "Illusion of Fusion" technique.

I use Spellbinder's "Wizard Wallet" from The Wizards' Journal #20 and part of the routine suggested there to give me a reason to need two one dollar bills.

Jay Sankey also has a pretty good dollars to one two dollar effect on one of his DVDs.
