While I agree that the 'what's the best ace trick?' Type post is too subjective to take seriously, I actually quite enjoy reading other performers favourite routines, and what effects are getting people excited! And also, thanks to ANYONE who makes an original post. Has anyone else noticed it's getting a little quiet in the workers?
Anyway, same as most people, my 'favourite' routines change all the time. At the minute, jerry sadowitz 'the more things change' is something I did a while ago, and I've just re visited it again. Definitely my favourite travellers/interchange routine.
Also re thinking guy hollingworths 'Cassandra quandary'. Nothing wrong with the original description in the slightest, but anyone who knows it will know that the main ' item' used by guy, as devious as it is, won't be to everyone's taste, and definitely wouldn't suit me.
The Benjamin earl handling of chad longs 'shuffling lesson' always gets me. It's one of those things that at the final moment,I'm as surprised as the spectator! Smile
I haven't used a gaff publicly for a long time, but I was toying with jb magic's 'club sandwich' earlier tonight. Forgot how much fun it was!

One of my favorites are Test your luck by Darwin Ortiz. I have performed the routine 100s of times with a great reaction. A quick and powerful effect. You can find it in the superb book: Lessons in Card Mastery (2012), page 255.
Buy the book:

If I was allowed to perform only one routine it would be "Capharnaum" by Christian Chelman...

Older thread, but it's always fun to talk about our favorites!

Mine would be the Invisible Deck/Ultra Mental deck. It's simple, easy, to the point, and hits hard. But it's really a mentalism effect that uses cards.

So if we're talking traditional card tricks, Back In Time by Jay Sankey.

One of my favorites is Contact Colors by Aldo Colombini. It's such a powerful effect and so easy. Spectators are blown away by it.

The one I enjoy watching the most are Tommy Wonder's Wild Card (Tamed Cards) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvURE6ueeEk and Ricky Jay's Astrological Card Trick which is incredibly funny https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfsJ8rgKIFo. And if you haven't watched his show Ricky Jay and His 52 Assistants definitely check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7InE1zXAY4

This is one of my favourite card effects at the moment.... not the greatest conditions to perform it in due to the noise but as you can see it gets a great reaction.

I’ve been a big fan of Benjamin Earls Red Herring routine for many years. The routine is fantastic of course, but the technique taught is applicable across many other applications. Feels really fair to the spectator, and devilishly simple for the performer
