I'm pretty sure they did, paperinink, although blizzards in Los Angeles are pretty rare and they are not very well prepared to handle them.
He still posts here occasionally, so he must be OK now. He also does some pretty nice woodworking, although I don't own any of his boxes myself. And thanks, Zombie- I should have thought of that myself, but it's just soooo hard to think and post when you are working at your normal job! :bat: |

The QR code I'd just a link to a basic video of me performing the routine to camera. I like adding these codes to written instructions as they allow people to see a routine in full with no frills as an easy reference.

It is very rare for me to buy effects using playing cards but with Rule of Three I made an exception. Having watched Jon's performance quite a few times, not only is the effect - with its double whammy - very powerful but it has excellent scope for audience participation and with the effect based on a fascinating premise.
I bought the effect direct from Jon and was immediately impressed with the whole structure of the routine and how everything had been carefully thought through. Even the one move - if it can be called a move - is fairly straightforward and occurs when the attention of the spectators is elsewhere. Rule of Three is a brilliant effect and made all the more intriguing by the patter about the popularity of certain cards. Highly recommended. Neil |

Rule Of Three plays big! It's a fun routine to perform and it gets everyone involved ( connecting with the audience ) In the instructions, Jon said that you don't have to do the gag where the card box is turned over and it says "you will name card #3". But everyone laughed when I did it, so I'm keeping that in.
There's nothing knuckle-busting about this. Jon created a clever deck and a routine that took the plot to a new level ( most have taken a step backward with the Blizzard plot ). I changed the routine slightly ( that's a hobbyists way of saying I ruined Jon's routine ). But, it works for me. I'll share it and I understand if everyone hates it. I'm having a great deal of fun with Rule Of Three ( it's a permanent keeper ) and just trying to make it fit my style. I asked a Lady to name what she thought was the most popular card named. She said the Queen of Hearts. That's a hit! She was the one I went to for the naming of the 3rd most popular card named, since she got the first one correct. If she had named another card, I would have said "actually, it's the Queen of Hearts". I then asked a Gentlemen what he thought was the second most popular card named. He let me down by not naming the Ace of Spades. But it was OK. I just continued on saying "Actually, it's the Ace of Spades". I then went back to the Lady that got the Queen of Hearts correct and had her name the 3rd most popular card and finished the routine, which had everyone laughing when the deck was shown blank. What is it about blank decks or one way forcing decks that fascinates people? Now, it's OK if both those people get the wrong card, because the 3rd person will get the killer prediction correct. The final prediction and blank deck finale is what they'll remember, everything else can be customized to fit your personality. There's a great deal of comedy/theater built into the Rule Of Three. The instructions have two ways to go with this. The one you see on the video and another that is equally clever. I think it will boil down to performer preference, because I don't think an audience would notice the difference. What they'll remember is that they named ANY card and the killer blank deck finale. A+++ on this trick! |

Zombie magic, I love your presentation on this one. It keeps up the excitement for yourself to have a least one hit with the two first cards.
'What is it about blank decks or one way forcing decks that fascinates people?' Well the answer is quite easy I think: it only exists in their imagination |

Just got this yesterday and used it last night to great reactions. I hadn't even read this thread before today but as soon as I saw Jon's demo video I knew exactly what I was going to get in the package (apart from one item). I think the routining behind this is ideal for table hopping. The routine has perfect misdirection for the only (easy) 'move' you need to make. The reset takes seconds and can be done as you move between tables.
An excellent piece of creative thinking from all involved. I'm relegating the other deck I have of this sort in my table hopping case into a bottom drawer (I hardly ever use it anyway). This I will use for sure. |

Does the deck come all ready to go or do you have to make it up yourself - writing the numbers etc. A very imppressive routine

You have to write the numbers yourself.
A customer put me onto this the other day when we ordered one in as a special. I was so impressed we now keep it in stock, brilliant thinking and use of this. http://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/new-magic/r......len.html

I performed this today at the hospital Caféteria. That may sound like a strange place to perform magic, but you'd be amazed at the joy you can bring to a few folks in this environment. I only do it by request ( a group of folks in their scrubs ) so I'm not intruding.
Anyway, as usual with Rule Of Three, it was a big hit. Rule of Three isn't a card trick ( I think of card "tricks" as pick a card and Mr. magic will find it ). Rule Of Three is a 2 minute theatrical piece of magic. They name ANY card. I do the old "you can change your mind, because I don't want you lay awake tonight thinking 'what if I picked a different card'. Sometimes they will change it and you can have some fun with that. Jon Allen ( one of my favorite creators and performers ) filmed a first rate demo showing the FULL effect: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3427 People LOVE this effect. It's funny, it's magical and the ending destroys them. |

I got this yesterday directly from the Card-Shark in Germany, since he is the producer of the cards. It's not listed on his website catalogue yet (?). He sells it a little cheaper than the other german retailers. Something to consider for german shoppers...

Nice idea about guessing the 1st and 2nd most popular cards.....
Convoluted? FAR FROM IT! I own this as well as the effect where you end up predicting 2 cards (numbers named freely allegedly) and any named card. IMHO, that effect is convoluted! The rule of three is very direct and very strong. Additionally, as mentioned it is FUN! FUN! FUN! |

Seems a little pricey but a fantastic effect. The idea that each card is numbered by it's popularity is genius. I might have to break down and get this.

There's a piece in the review section of June's MAGIC magazine for Rule of Three. Can't say I agree with it though.
