Well, it was my first magic convention EVER and it was GREAT! I enjoyed all the lectures and performances but was especially blown away by Woody Aragon. Wow! Plus, I got to have dinner with Fukai and Kimika. What a treat THAT was! Was able to speak to Gaston, Pilou, Burgoon and one of my favorites, John Carney. You think I'm not a very happy camper?!!! Thanks to everyone responsible! I had a better time than I could have ever imagined!
Magically yours,

It was my first visit to Magic On The Beach and I hope it won't be my last. I'd recommend the convention to anyone, I can't think of another where I got fed twice! Some great talent, the highlight for me was Woody Aragon's one man show which received a standing ovation.

My thoughts...for what they are worth. No weak points at all...except for too much to do. Shows and lectures were great. The unadvertized bonus of Rudy Colby was very nice and informative. All performers were approachable and willing to chat with anyone. I personally liked meeting the (regular) folks...like me. Dealers were demo_ing like crazy. Food was such a nice touch which everyone enjoyed. Such a deal and it all seemed to run smoothly. The behind the scene folks great much credit for their work. Hope this is how everyone else feels. Can't beat it. Trois

From the Magic at the Beach website:
"MAGIC AT THE BEACH, 5 GREAT YEARS Welcome to Magic at the Beach, South Carolina's Premiere Magic Convention. If you were able to attend one or all of our events, we thank you for your support. When we started Magic at the Beach, our goal was to create a one-of-a-kind magic experience. It was like a well scripted magic show; we kicked things off with a great opening party, followed up with fun and surprises throughout the weekend, then finished our event with the big finale, the "Champions of Magic" Gala Show. We tried to make everything as professional and organized as possible, it was an incredible learning experience. Other conventions took notice, adopting many of our ideas and concepts. While other magic conventions were dropping out, we continued to grow. Organizing an event like Magic at the Beach is a tremendous amount of work. In the end, we did not get the support we had hoped for. At this time we have decided not to schedule an event for 2015. We will take a year off, regroup and decide how we want to move forward. Thanks again for your support and we hope to see you again in the future. Sincerely, The Magic at the Beach Team" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well that really sucks!!!!! (My wife said I shouldn't sound so harsh...but I'm really disappointed. So is she, as she can't get rid of me for a week!)
Can you give us a who, what and why, Mike? (If not publicly...send me a PM.) This was my third year attending, having missed the first two, and was the convention I looked forward to, starting every February. I started promoting MATB, to other magi, as the one convention where you got more bang for your buck than any other convention extant. (And that was after only my first attendance!) MATB's venue was great, dealer's were top-notch and the talent was world class. I'll miss the camaraderie....maybe in 2016.

I will echo the sentiments for MATB as a top notch affair. Other commitments kept me the last couple of years.
Guys do not realize all the work and financial gamble to put on a convention. It is a a big, big undertaking. I know first hand has I have been working with Battle of the Magicians for over 25 years and am helping to organize a big magic collector's event in Cincinnati this June. The negotiations with hotel and performers are just part of the picture. You have to balance free time, program, type of activities and so many other things. It is a big, big, big project. Hoping things will look better after a year off. Richard

Having organized a few conventions and have had to cancel a few, it's not easy. Take a year off and reorganize.
