This one looks quite beautiful - although this large a prop (hourglass) doesn't seem practical for strolling.

I like that there are two different possibilities here - stopping the sand, and penetration with a die.

Ad Copy:

From the creative mind of Taiwan Ben and the P.G. magic team comes an extremely innovative hourglass effect that will have you stopping the sands of time at your command.

Control the Time - (Effect 1)
If you had the ability to control the time, you could prove this by stopping the motion of flowing sand in an hourglass. At any time during your performance you can start and stop the sands of time at your command. Only the magician can control the time to stop and start again. After the performance, you can hand out the hourglass to be examined. This is REAL magic!

Penetration - (Effect 2)
You can make a die (or coin, etc.) penetrate the hourglass visually and cleanly at any time during your performance. After the performance, you can hand out the hourglass to be examined.

Included all necessary gimmick props, instructions with video.

This looks like something I would like. Any reviews and / or others that have it and can share info. Is it self working or need a lot of time learning the routine

I just got this from Hocus Pocus for 65% off! It's a very elegant and startling trick, and the method is very clever. I've tried it out on friends and family over the past two days and they have all been taken by the whole "stopping time" theme - it's very emotive! There are no electronic devices involved, but you should know that the stopping bit needs a certain amount of "timing" on your part; however, the starting up again is genuinely at your command. For the stopping, you don't need to be near the hourglass, but for the starting, you do need to be close. These are NOT problems; in fact, being close to the hour glass to restart it allows one to be near the focus of attention at the conclusion of the effect, which is always good dramatically. My only concern is that, despite its large size, the visibility of the sand flow makes this more suited to close-up and parlor situations. As for the DVD, there are written instructions included as well. The DVD won't play on my Mac or DVD player, but it does work on my son's Windows PC. All in all, this is both a beautiful and baffling effect. I haven't played with the "object in the hourglass" effect yet, but you certainly can't use any object. It does come with prepared dice. A little creative thinking should enable you perform this with other objects.

I am interested in this item. Can you tell me if the penetration part of the effect could be done with a signed coin or spectators borrowed ring at all.

My only reservation about this effect is that it probably can't be appreciated even in a parlor situation... it reallly seems close up only...
