Help! I need someone to design a pop-up banner with a quick turnaround. I have a very simple idea in mind so it won't be very involved. Mainly text.
Please PM me with a quote - thanks! James |

James: As you may know I am a graphic designer by trade. If you are referring to a vertical and retractable banner display. I can certainly help you design one and tell you a great place to get it printed at. I will PM you with the price for design.

Thanks, Kyle. And thank you to everyone who offered to help by PM. To be honest, I was surprised at how helpful everyone was. I did not expect it, but I am grateful. A couple of members created banner designs for me in an amazingly short space of time and I will share the one I chose along with a picture of the banner when it is printed.
Thanks again, James |

Thanks James - I am considering investing in these, so I will wait until I see who you went with and how it worked out.

Well I used to use ahbanners.com but several people have told me they went out of business. I went with another eBay seller so we'll see how it turns out.

I'm thinking of buying a couple tear drop banners, but I want to see what James comes up with first.

Yes, AhBanner went out of business...at least that's what their credit card processor told me. Unfortunately, they didn't inform anyone, they just stopped printing orders. I hope people got their money back.
I've used the pop up banners for years for BOR sales, but have yet to put two big ones in the show yet. I'm thinking this fall. I just purchased another one of the tiny table-top ones, they're pretty cute when you see them next to those huge ones. I've used Ebay for buying them, they seem to have good deals. My last one was purchased off Ebay. I think it was someone in California maybe. James, you'll have to let us know how it goes, where you get them printed and how they do. Good luck, Kevin |

I've been using the pop-up banners for years. I think I might have been the first magician to use them. I showed Ken Scott my banners and then he blabbled about them at his lectures and everyone started using them.
I used ahbanners.com for a long time, but then I read about them going out of business, so I switched to a new company. I just received my new banner and it looks great - better quality than the ahbanner.com ones. It only cost $80!!! I'll post a picture of the new one from one of my middle school shows next week, but in the meantime here are the ones I use for my elementary school shows (the horse is not part of my show, but was in the wings!): I think these types of banners are the best kind of backdrop for the average performer. They are cheap, versatile and look good. |

James,
Unfortunately that's what happens when one person has a great ideal. It gets copied and copied until it's no longer unique. Sad to say, but the best way to keep something exclusive is to not even discuss it with others - especially magicians. (I know that goes against the motto of "magicians helping magicians," however I still think entertainers should keep their best ideas to themselves. That said, I still think others would have eventually stumbled upon these as they're standard fare at conventions, trade shows and seminars. Gerry |

So very true. Look at what happened with the animated logos.

The newest developement in banner stands is magnetic strip banners that allow easy changing of banners. Here's one model:

Oh I don't mind. I just like to wind up Kenny boy about it from time to time.
Not sure I see the point of changing out the banners. Since they are so cheap, why bother? And they don't take up much space. |

James, if you don't mind my asking, who did you use to print the banners?

I used some company on eBay to do the banners. Just search for retractable banner.
Here is the new one. A HUGE thank you to Robin Rainer (Robin4kids) who designed the banner. I can't believe how quickly he did it and I am very happy with it. You can see it from the back of a gym. I recommend Robin if you have anything you need designed. |

James, great banner. I have seen a bit of James show on this and the reaction of the audience is great. James entertains and educates the children about cyber safety and uses the theme "Think before you Click" throughout it. The banner helps to burn this message into their minds throughout the show.
Robin, great job on the banner. I would like to check into doing one for myself with my logo. Email me at policemagician@yahoo.com so I can send you the details and get a price for a small one. I don't need one as large as James as I live in Georgia. I know that things are always bigger in Texas.

Thanks Glenn & GMan! There are plenty of good vendors out there that produce retractable banners, but I can recommend Post Up Stands as a good one to check into. They may not have the cheapest price available, but their prices are very competitive if you take quality and service into the mix. They can be found online at PostUpStand.com. But a banner isn't complete without a great looking design... so I hope you will give us the opportunity to serve you.

Great job James & Robin. I like it even better than my own Cyber program graphics.
