I think I've come up with a pretty solid method to bring a basketball "into play" in a close-up/parlour setting... but I'm just not quite sure where to go from there! Anyone have some ideas for how I can produce it? No, I'm not going to start wearing a hat! And I feel like using a hanky is too old school for me.
What could also help me out would be some other resources on large-object routines/productions... |

All I can say is that their is nothing published on surprise production of large objects. Sounds strange, but this type of production has to do with the performer's personality, therefore, what works and fits one person will not necessarily fit another.

Not sure of your question, but a Bowling ball from Briefcase would work to produce a basketball.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00XCM75_uZo I used to have a marketed effect of 2 basketballs from a briefcase, briefcase not included, but it did not work well for me so I sold it. ACE

Andrew Mayne's bowling ball production might do the trick, although it's not entirely straightforward how it could be modified to work with a basketball.

There are several different methods to produce one or two basketballs from a briefcase. It would depend on several factors which way you would go. Some of those factors include: what you want to do with the basketball after producing it, what angle concerns you have, how much you want to spend, and how you would bring the briefcase into the performance.

The briefcase is inspiring -- I really like Andrew Mayne's idea of pulling it out of a paper bag. I could have the bag folded up in my pocket. Thanks folks! Not a lot to work with so I appreciate your imagination.

Where do I find the marketed method to produce two basketballs from a briefcase?
Is there any way that this could be adapted to produce three balls for juggling? |

The Juggler's challenge is not to juggle three basketballs, but to juggle 1 basketball, 1 regular size ball or beanbag, and 1 peanut or something equally small. Wiz Kids answer that challenge, not with a basketball, but with a beach ball which is actually larger than a basketball. The ball is produced from an "empty" cardboard box, as described in The Wizards’ Journal #29 – 09 "Blinking, Bouncing, Floating Beach Balls". The challenge is made by producing TWO beach balls from the same box, with one ball tossed out into the audience so anyone who wishes can try to match the Wiz Kid juggler in accomplishing the feat of juggling the beach ball with a beanbag and a peanut. Most accomplished jugglers can actually do it, but can't duplicate the ending when the beach ball floats up in the air and refuses to come down again.

I have some comedy I perform with three basketballs. It would be cool to produce them magically.
Maybe carry one on. Have one in a brief case and produce one from a paper bag would be an alternative. |

The late Howard Flint produced a bowling ball from an attache case at Abbott's GTG. back in the '80s. Then he dropped it on the floor!

You may check BOWLED OVER by Chris Talbat . I found he has an interesting gimmick.
