Go to page 378 of the Silverman biography of Houdini:
"...Harvard physiologists, and zoologists had studied samples of Margery's ectoplasmic tentacle-hand. They found marks of trachea, proving that it had been fabricated out of some animal's lung tissue." When the card table levitated, Houdini felt her head underneath. That's pretty much cut and dried. |

After the Margery seance, Houdini discussed what happened in a car parked outside with two other Scientific American committee members. But he had to remain silent until the committee's final report.
Then he published his pamphlet exposing her methods. I think the Harvard scientists studied actual samples in a lab--not a photograph of the ectoplasm. |

1) Several different people caught Crandon cheating. 2) It has been established in the medical literature that a punch cannot rupture an appendix, even if the latter is infected. |

The Scientific American committee refused to award her their $5,000 prize because she was not able to produce any phenomena that could not be duplicated by normal means. She failed where the rubber meets the road.

Their prize was only $2500 and Houdini was on the board. Her spirit guide put a curse on Houdini that culminated in his death. How do you do that by natural means?????

Two prizes of $2,500 were offered to the first psychic that could produce the goods under test conditions. A total of $5,000.
Houdini's death didn't win Margery the grand prize. The curse was a bit off. It foretold that Houdini would be dead by the end of 1925. He passed that deadline. Pardon the pun. |

Arthur Ford won the contest however he never asked for the money. He was famous enough by then to tour the world as the man who cracked the Houdini Mystery Word and code it was hidden within.

Houdini: The Untold Story by Milbourne Christopher, page 257. Ford apparently had known Bess long before the Payson Avenue seances. Houdini: His Legend and His Magic by Doug Henning and Charles Reynolds, page 186. A fellow named Jay Abbott contacted William Rauscher after he published his book on Arthur Ford. Abbott told him he had known Bess & Ford and confirmed that they were friends and going out together before the Payson Avenue seances. The most likely scenario is that Ford duped her and managed to get the crucial information he needed. |

Please tell me about the REAL Jay Abbott... LOL. Ford was Gay, not that there is anything most people would find wrong about that, so him hooking up with Bess is unlikely. How would the number one Spiritualist in New York dupe Mrs. Houdini?
