I think people are going a little overboard trying to disguise the names of effects here. I'm starting to go cross-eyed reading some of these posts. Smile

Unless you're announcing the name of the effect to your audience(!), how would anyone know to Google it?

The only words or phrases I can understand camouflaging would be those that are actually said in performance, such as the name of a certain asylum.

Oh no, you didn't code the word @sy7um........now ya gone & done it......LoL
Well I guess we could covert these posts to Cherokee & Navajo linguistics ,......if the Japanese couldn't break the WW2 codes, then Google surely can't....LoL

Yep, during a performance the spectators will see said books with the name on them anyway......& unless we use the effects creators with the coded names which do Google back to the sellers sites & rarely back here, but does not seem to find Google hits down in the crypt...so we are safe down there for now.....for now...

It does seem overboard at times, but I know that we are trying to keep the general public & nosy kids that just want to be popular by exposure from tapping into some of these effects & ruining the wonders we offer for entertainment......

Absolutely. Why anyone codes "LUNA" is beyond me. LUNA LUNA LUNA LUNA.

The overboard obsession with 'exposure' often puts me in mind of Henny Penny, Chicken Licken, and the sky falling down. Or should that be H322y P322y, Ch1ck3n L1cke3n, and the 6ky fa11in6 6052?

7734 is a place of great pain and suffering and it reekth of brimstone!

I remember when I was in 6th grade and we got calculators (giant adding machines with cool glowing red LED displays and no roll of paper) in our school for the first time. Back in 1972, calculators were not commonly found and cost hundreds of dollars in today's money. Some enterprising kid figured out that he could secretly spell a cuss word on the calculator. It was all the rage! That secret word was 7734!

Another reason to avoid these codes: They essentially render the Café's search function useless.

I thought that was another reason they were coding! Smile

That reminds me of an embarrassing story. First, I'll admit I'm a bit of a sci-fi nerd...but usually "too cool" to go and admit it.

About 6 or so years ago, I had some spare time on a business trip. In town was a pretty large gaming and sci-fi convention. I went, fully expecting to see all of the legendary fans role-playing and shamelessly parading around in homemade costumes. I was not disappointed. At one point while waiting in line for tickets - all proud of myself for seemingly being "above it all" - I heard something familiar between a couple of folks in front of me, and chuckled to myself.

I quickly called my wife..."Honey, I'm at the convention I told you I was going to. It's just as nerdy as I thought it would be. As a matter of fact, right in front of me are two people speaking Klingon."

She began chuckling.

"I know...real geeks right?" I excitingly questioned.

"That's not why I'm laughing." She quickly replied. "I'm laughing because you knew it was Klingon."

...busted.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
