What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Bob1Dog-
Just to be clear. I don't believe in government "interference" in all areas of our life from cradle to grave. I DO believe, however, that our government is supposed to be US, as in "of the people, by the people and FOR the people." I do not view government as an evil entity distinct from the citizenry. I am NOT, by any means, a socialist. The only government benefit I ever received was my education, paid for by the GI Bill. I work hard every day on my performances and my writings in order to EARN my living. But I DO believe in JFK's definition of a liberal as I quoted it earlier. I believe that government (i.e., "we the people") should work FOR the people in promoting their welfare, their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties. You may, nonetheless call me a Socialist or any other inaccurate label you choose.. The bottom line, though, is that I am, as are you, an American. And despite our differing views, I believe that underneath it all you respect that. Good thoughts, Bob |

And I'll accept that you are not a socialist, but please tell me that you'll agree that it does get confusing with some folks and some opinions. I'm also offended that folks think me as an extreme righty. So I can appreciate your thoughts as well. It gets hot in here sometimes. And on a positive note, I passed off on my FC tonight. I will be raised in the rite of the shield and square in the fall.

You're a good guy Bob. Thanks for the Alrighty then.

We can spell out Fellow Craft Brother...
There was none more special than the EA. We had a crayon instead of a pen though. |

I am on this planet. What planet you are ****ing on I don't know. You want to come down to earth and understand that your government provide you with many social programs, that you endorse, such as things like a police force, that cradle you from birth to grave. Social programs are anything designed to give assistance to citizens outside of what the market provides. Anyone that votes for such things makes them a socialist by your definition. But you don't like it when you are called a socialist do you? Your hypocrisy knows no bounds, which is more than can be said for your understanding of life on this planet.

But here's a bit of irony for you- you realize, don't you, that Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and Master Mason were all members of the same ancient labor union? |

In fact, what you describe sounds much like what average thirty-something American couples were going through several years back. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-03-05......ble.html And the causes of that have nothing to do with the so-called socialist policies you mentioned.

No one has told me that but it seems like good advice. I'm told I needn't wear any special shoes when I asked if I could wear my original issue military police boots for the shield and square. It seems there is no need for my special boots. And yes Bob, I do recognize the first ancient labor union. But what I embrace about our arts and craft is that when we meet in our convention, as Master Masons, which I will be soon, we are all equals. And that's simply fair and square for all of us. Aren't we of the same obligations, no matter our status? I continually find myself being humbled of late. That's why I need to back off on all the politics in here. We're all merely trying to get through life the best we can and no one has the answers to perfection except for the grand master of the universe. And thanks for helping me get back to this thread Brother!
