Last weekend, I was at a friend's wedding. I had had many drinks, and realised too late that the bar served their whiskey-cokes with 3/4 whiskey and 1/4 coke instead of the opposite. That, and several glasses of aquavit that were chucked in the best swedish tradition. Well, I was quite drunk.
At some point I pull my deck out of my pocket for no reason, and friends look at me. I take the cards out of the box, start shuffling a bit, have a card selected in a classic force fashion, realise I forgot to peek at the card, keep going though the whole deck before the spectator has time to pick a card. I look at him with a "bad boy! I told you to pick one" look, and let him take a card again. He takes it, then another person wants to take one, I somehow mime "no no no, not you, you were too naughty tonight!", and have the first card put back in the deck. I quickly controlled it, and then, started the face up face down slop shuffle of the trick. I hadn't said a word yet. No need to give the actual patter, I was already seriously intoxicated, and all could see that. It made the trick even better as I was really all tipsy! They were all having good laughs at my pantomime (and actual condition). I finished the trick, and surprised them all. The next day, I got praised for my entertaining silent performance I'm still surprised I could actually control a card anyhow P! |

You should learn the 'sloppy' shuffle card force. This would go extremely well with your inebriated mime act. You'd have loads of fun.

Did you drive home?
It's good that the situation worked well but it's usually not a good idea to get drunk in public = whether you're doing magic (and it's more likely that it won't be good magic) or just socializing. |

I do a lot of casual performing in bar situations with friends and I find myself way more willing to take chances. I can also come up with twists on routines on the spot...
Definitely not ideal, but I have to say it can be fun a lot of the time! |

Ray: Any reference for that force?
Gerald: No, I slept at the back of the car. Sober people drove. I agree it's not a good idea to get drunk. I wasn't expecting to, until I realised it was too late. Dynamix: I also realised it helped me not have stage fright anymore. P! |

From my New Year's Eve experience, never, ever, ever borrow a ring for a trick while drunk... (we did find it eventually, and it did appear in an impossible location!)
