What is the problem with that?? And it's not like those items were shown to be lousy, either. I just don't get how some people can sit there and post their snide little comments from behind a computer. Need to grow up and think about what you post before you hit the 'submit' button. |

Nice talking around the issue, jack. You still didn't address why you were rude to me. Nor did you respond to my PM.
Johndevamaker did and here's what he wrote after I asked him what my problem with me was: "Unfortunately Cameron you cannot take criticism Not everything in this world is wonderful Get over it" I feel sorry for him, though. He obviously doesn't know the difference between a rude comment and a criticism. Because he didn't criticize me in his post. He simple made a sarcsric remark. But to respond, I am perfectly aware that not everything in this world is wonderful. But this is a MAGIC FORUM!!! We're talking about freaking magic tricks, not ending world hunger! It should be a fun place. And I for one usually like to contribute positive energy to this forum. Except for this post... Ugh.

Thanks Cameron for your review, VERY THOROUGH and thanks for taking the time to write it up! I will be picking this up just based on Vol 1 which was most excellent. But you providing an in-depth was great

I don't know him except from the Café but Cameron seems like a gracious guy. I suspect he is one of the people that would rather say nothing at all if he can't say something nice. This of course does not mean he likes everything. I feel this is usually the most appropriate online and offline conduct. Some times an experienced person will feel that a product has been represented dishonestly by the creator or seller and want to call foul if only to save less experienced magicians from disappointment and parting with their money. Usually these comments generate more anger than they are worth and at the end of the day most of it boils down to opinion anyway.

(I do not hint that this is not the case here, I just mention this.) |

Obviously I don't do much posting, but am a great listener here on the Café. I just felt I had to say that Cameron is a real gentleman. I have purchased most of what he has on his website and he is a pleasure to do business with. On occasions I have even e-mailed him for his advice on an item I was purchasing elsewhere, and he was gracious enough to send me an honest reply. So as far as I am concerned, I value Cameron's opinions here on the Café.

In addition to the fact that this DVD has a precedent, it is also a "greatest hits" collection of previously released material. Presumably, their methodology in choosing effects for inclusion is roughly the same as with Vol. 1 since the same company and same people are involved. There is no shortage of great self-working card tricks out there. So I think it is more than reasonable to assume that this collection will be comparable to the first in quality.
On another note, there is a definite trend of people selling their own magic products posting exclusively favorable reviews of other products. This seems like a reasonable business decision, as the last thing you want to do in a niche market is alienate anyone. Nor does it require or even suggest duplicity. The creator/reviewers are likely posting only on products about which they like something and focusing on the things they genuinely like. That being said, I don't place much reliance on such reviews, as I expect there is often another side of the story they are not providing. It would be like listing all the pros of a product and none of the cons. The pros may be things the reviewer genuinely finds to be positives, but without any negatives, you just aren't getting the complete picture. Unfortunately, most of the pre-release reviews seem to be of this kind -- creators gratuitously sharing their products with other creators, who then post positive reviews. In most cases, it pays to hold out for a broader spectrum of reviewers once the product has been released to the public. |

Just had to jump in and also say what a class guy Cameron is -- I made a mistake on the Café in referencing a review of one of his products. Did he get mad, defensive, attack me? Nope, he wrote me a really nice note, along with a copy of the product to check it out for myself. Not only was I blown away by his behavior, the DVD was pretty awesome too. I have subsequently bought 3 of his products just to support someone with that degree of integrity.
As for the DVD I am mixed. I LOVED volume 1, but the descriptions of the effects on 2 don't grab me as much. That said, like others I will probably buy it on the strength on DVD 1. |

BigBlindMedia is having an awesome sale. If you haven't purchased Volume 1, you can place a preorder for a combination of both volumes at a 25% discount. That is what I would do if I didn't already own the first one. Anyone sitting on the fence about purchasing the set should go ahead and save the money and hit the buy button.
I went ahead and placed a preorder on Volume 2 because I know I am going to purchase it anyway, and with NYC taxes, I won't save any money by waiting when compared to the British pound and since shipping overseas is only a couple of dollars. Can't wait! |

I bought Vol. 1 and I didn't regret it one second (see my review in the thread about the first DVD). It is the most 'practical' DVD I have ever bought. I am a hobbyist and by far not a professional magician. For people like me (but I'm sure also for professionals) the ideas, routines, tricks were great. Well explained, easy to do, baffling.
Looking forward to volume 2 |

Same here, very satisfied with Vol. 1. Surely Vol. 2 will bring some more fresh creative ideas to the table. I'll be standing by waiting to order my copy.
Posting ever so slightly.

I'm in,ordered both volumes 1&2. Just had to jump at the chance for the special offer that BBM have got going on with these.
When you look at the contributors to the 2 volume set, well it speaks volumes. Self working effects from some really class acts in the field I consider it money well spent. Even though some of these I have in ebook form, I just had to jump in and get this set, to see the way they are presented and to be able to put my own stamp on these.
Best Wishes,
Mark |
