Hey Everyone. Jeff Thomson here. I'm from San Diego and go to school in New York. Here's a 25 minute film of my performance. I usually do Gazzo's Tossed out Deck but I only did the rabbits and the straitjacket.

I'd like to thank Don Driver for helping me along the way and really being a great mentor and friend for all these years. I owe it to him. JimmyTalksalot has also been a great influence and friend. He always lets me share a pitch with him down in San Diego, it's an honor to work with such a master.

Get a hat for your tips, leave it out for those that need to leave early.
Many folks who work with Jimmy wind up using the same inflection and tone,
so they wind up sounding like him. I always thought that was funny.

p.s. This particular one is only ten minutes.

Love it!

That statue is General George Washington on the horse, in Union Square Park, New York City.

Jeff, do you attend NYU?

Try using the line, "Does this make my butt look big?" after
the crotch strap is buckled where you ask the participants,
instead of, "How do I look". You will get bigger laughs.
Try it and see.

Mouthcoil to Straightjacket is a new concept...
You needed to say something when you let it fall
to the ground, such as, "I was looking for the key
to the handcuffs." or something along those lines."
The effect fell flat without an explanation of sorts,
make sense?

The part where the participant stated,
"I'm not getting paid to do this!" You said,
"I'm not either until after the show!" You should
try to recreate that each time out now. It was
created organically if you will, so use it.

I enjoyed watching your latest performance, so I
thank you for sharing it. I'll tell Jimmy that you
are doing well and haven't dropped out yet.
Best of luck at NYU. Go Aztecs!

I certainly see Jimmy's influence but you are not copying him in the least which is awesome.

This is just my opinion but for me the NYU lines make it seem like your a college kid looking for extra money and
the whole thing is sorta a joke. I would personally be more inclined to give to someone who says they are a full
time professional performer and "this is how I make my living." Again... Just my thought... If the student lines work best
for you that's great!

Really liked the performance. Maybe I'll get to see you perform next time I'm in town.

ThomasR, I know exactly what you're talking about. The line works, but I'm still trying to perfect it. With the little kids I talk about how the NYU bag cost me thousands of dollars- but it's not quite right. I'm still working on that line.

I'm glad people have liked it! Any and all criticism appreciated!

Couple of suggestions for lines:
When the crotch strap is put through, after the laughter, does the line "Folks, I'm a bit strapped for money. Any contributions at the end of this act appreciated." It may not go across in USA, but in NZ "strapped for money" means being short of money.
If you're not comfortable with saying "This is how I make my living" because it's not true, you could change it to "This is a way I make my living." Said fast enough, it sounds like "This is THE way I make my living".
Fat hats!!

I was doing a You Tube search a couple of days back for "street magic show" and somehow got to a couple of videos of Bobby Maverick in a straight jacket. It was in New Orleans. You may like to watch them. But, as we know, on the street the fact is, that for each of us "I am my show". Being ourselves, in our own style, is what we are involved in on the streets.
The presentation makes the magic.

G'day Jeff
That was enjoyable to watch.
You are most entertaining - you provided a great entertainment opportunity that the audience appeared to appreciate (by paying up at the end).
My reflections are that you performed with very few props and no table and it worked well.
Enjoy the journey as you continue to develope this performance.
I liked how you incorporated the girl into collecting before the show was over and then payed her for her work - it appeared to me that that may have increased the numbers who contributed to the hat/bag at the end.
