Aronson, but if I hadn't already memorized the Aronson stack (which is great) I definately would have devised a stack of my own to better fit my performance style. Anyway, any memdeck is such a powerful weapon that the stack in itself doesn't really matter all that much but if you have the possibility to build in your own features, why not? 3. The drawing duplication is very simple. They draw something - anything, on a business card and I insert it into my wallet without looking. I "read their minds" for a while and then pull out a blank business card from the wallet (and use the peek feature) and duplicate their drawing. Usually I don't make it exactly as theirs to make it a little more "realistic". I use the F1 Nitro wallet and keep everything stored in it. I'm very happy with it but there are a bunch of other great wallets out there with different features so if you are looking for one, take the time to look around.

I was out last night with some old work friends, they always ask to see something so I took a deck and a mini sharpie. When asked to perform I showed them repeated Card under Box, Mr Stickman and then Chad Longs Torn and Restored Kinda.
The card under box and Mr Stickman I learned from Jonathan Kamm on his youtube channel, |

I think I would raise my drink and toast to friends, both far and near, to friends that have passed and are no longer here, bring my drink to my lips and make it disappear.
As far as effects I may do, who knows, it would be impromptu. |

Impressive that some people would perform entire books! Sad to see some many - well... rude answers. If you don't want to contribute or answer OP's question, why bother at all?

Bring your TT and do Sweet N Low (Osterlind) since there should be sugar packets available. I do this literally every time Im in a restaurant setting. Im huge on floating so Ill often float napkins, etc. I also always have a multitude of card magic on me beginning with some sort of stack (i.e - Contact colors - Colombini or Prior Commitment (Aronson) and followed by gimmicks (Tagged, Ultra Gum, LIT, Twlight Angels, Double Back, etc) ending with a bunch of impromptu effects (its nice to eliminate the stacks and gimmicks and end with impromptu) such as Back In Time (Sankey), nice ACR, Search and Destroy (Fisher),etc so that you can give your deck away to be examined. I always have my 3 coins across (Roth's version) for my buddies because it fries them and its the first one they ask me to do. Always have a few balloons to make magic happen with their cell phone (Pressure). Oh yeah .. one more gimmick I never leave without is Psypher. Some great mentalism with cards here. Hope this helps.

Thanks Chris and Ray. When I wrote Bamboozlers the idea was doing magic, gags, bets, puzzles with what was available in the room when one's pockets were empty. Little did I know it would lead to a series of books. Volume Three came out Friday! For more details see my site.

Karrell Fox's Poka-Cola (a cigarette/straw thru coin). This is a great on to do for friends.
Coin in bottle. I do a verison of Karrell's routine. Dan Harlan's Starcle Glass or salt shaker thru table. Sometimes I'll do Ron Bauer's Spirits. If I'm with The Madmen gang I'll do a couple of things with an advertising bent.

Perhaps it is you who needn't have bothered at all. In keeping with the OPs question, many of the most impressive, entertaining, fun things you can do at the table with family or friends, are from Gardners wonderful collection. It is my sincere hope that the OP seeks out this masterpiece so he will be armed with impromptu dessert time miracles for life. If anything in this thread is "sad" its your rude and hurtful comments. |

Nothing wrong with recommending a book on top of that (especially not Gardner's) but I think a lot of the posters just takes the opportunity to roll their eyes, sigh and declare that "omg, there's a time and a place for performing magic, duuuh...." And as true as that may be, the OP clearly stated 1. what he was looking for, and 2. a very detailed description of the situation. He KNOWS he will be ASKED to show something by WILLING spectators. Now, you know perfectly well what he's asking for and (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)... it's not a book. Again, nothing wrong with suggesting appropriate books to have a look in but I think it's common courtesy to first answer the question in OP and then give additional advice. I'm not saying your posts qualifies as rude or anything, I'm just saying that there are a lot of such posts in threads like this one. So please don't take my entire rant personally, and if I have offended you with this post or any previous post I sincerely apologize. I love discussing magic and there's no need to fight. Neither are there any reason to be rude to a person who made a perfectly good start of a thread with an, for some of us at least, interesting topic. If it's not interesting to you - move on.

I recieved your text as genuine until I read your last sentence- which is once again rude. There isn't much in this world that interests me more than performing an after dinner trick at a table for friends- hence my recommendation of Gardner, and my involvement in the thread. |

Sorry magicfish, I meant that in a general sence, not you personally. I can see how you took it that way though, I should have made a new paragraph.

I would probably do a quick one coin routine, maybe even 2 in the hand 1 in the pocket if I'm feeling like it. Since I'm considering going pro I feel like I have to limit what I do when I'm not working.

I perform for friends all the time. Usually something brand new. There were times I felt like I had to constantly be amazing. (I'm sure most of us had that syndrome at one point.) Now, usually only if someone asks and there is someone FRESH, like their wife or family member who has never seen me, and then it's only one or two. After that, I remind them this is work and they can come and see me any weekend.

Right now he only wishes to see some titles of single tricks that he can look into - which I guess we all did at one point or another in our careers. I don't think there's nothing wrong with that and I certainly don't think OP deserves any rolling eyes or loud sighs. And again, nothing wrong with suggesting books but maybe it's possible to at least explain more about the book in question, maybe even describe an effect or two that could be found in it? If I was OP I sure would be more likely to take the next step if that happened than if somebody just threw a meaningless (to me, as an hypothetical newbie) title at me.
