From several cut and restored string effects, I do admire Jeff Sheridan's version. He is using Butchers Twine for this effect, and it does look like a very soft version of the string. I've been searching amazon.co.uk etc. and I found two versions, but the both looks to hard and stiff compared to Mr. Sheridans string. Can somebody advice me to what brand to use?
Any help is appreciated I found these two versions, still they seem to tight http://www.amazon.co.uk/Regency-Cooking-......rs+twine http://www.amazon.co.uk/Certified-White-......rs+twine best regards Jan |

I'm not sure how you can tell they're hard and stiff from photos on the internet. Butcher's twine is that thick, soft string that is used to tie up roasts. Probably either of those spools is what you're looking for.
You could go to a butcher, see what he uses, and ask where he gets his.

Any grocery store will sell it. Just ask the guy in the meat department. He'll tell you where it is.

Here in the mid-west they don't use it anymore at normal grocery stores. I think CJRichard is correct, and I agree the 1st web address looks like what you would be looking for. We would have to find an old butcher meat shop, to see if they still have any around.
Actually, more correctly, the string is called "Twine", and enter that in the Amazon search engine and you will find a good supply on a smaller spool. |

You can find it in food stores as it's also used to tie up various foods during the cooking.

Vraagaard!
Suggest that you PM VAMPIRO! I sent him a sample of ROPE that is suitable. I also sent him a number of sources from MAGIC INC., HUGARD'S MONTHLY, etc. He is very interested in the principle of the twisted string.

Have you looked at mop heads? The right kind can be unraveled to different diameters and it is very soft.
