Okay, I've just sent you my payment via PayPal, Devin. I left you a message. Is my request possible?
Thanks, Jay |

Am I correct in assuming that this effect would fit real well in a parlor type setting? Otherwise, carrying around a paper plate wherever you go would seem a little strange, would it not?
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

So after all the hype, I now hear it uses basically the same principle as Crazy Cube by WERRY. I’m not 100% sure if "impossible Devination" really uses the exact same principle or not but I’ve heard that it uses the same technique. Could someone please confirm this!? (Two sources are better than one
I’m a little bit confused now. They said this would be a whole new principle and that it has never been printed in any book before. Crazy Cube is available for many, many years. If this is really true, I can hardly believe that this "principle /trick" has fooled dozen of TV producers and journalists. (If it has then I guess you could fool them also with some tricks from a magic set for 6 year olds.) Oh, and not to forget about that Crazy Cube is only $2.95 or so on the market!!! If this uses really the same principle - can then someone tell me why this costs 20 bucks?

I'm unsure as to what logical explanation there would be for carrying a paper plate around with you to use on the effect. Wouldn't you just use whatever was lying around, or maybe shut your eyes, to get the same effect? Maybe use a book? I don't think I've ever been in the situation where I could reasonably say, "I'll just use the paper plate..."

Maybe you would find a paper plate with your teddy bears picnic next to the magic set for 6 year olds that 'Soul Star' refers to.

Maybe I should go shopping at Toys R´Us - get myself a magic set (and some gleaming paper plates and then I will drive directly to our local TV station pretending I was psychic and fool the heck out of everybody. According to Devin Knight this should work very well.

I'm not sure that we should be talking about Crazy Cube vs. Impossible Devination here. The secret to Crazy Cube is pretty well known and this post has turned into fishing for secrets more than anything else.

It’s not Crazy Cube vs. Impossible Devination!
The question is simply: Same principle or not??? (And if the answer is yes, then a lot of the claims the ad states are mis-leading (like "never released" , "never in print" , "new principle" etc...) But maybe you are right, this discussion is "useless" ! I will stop posting now - I’ve lost the interest in this effect and of course I won’t buy this (and that's because I am a "well informed magician" )

I should be getting ID in the mail sometime soon. I'll have to take a peek at it and see if the method is as obvious as people are claiming.
Just my 2 cents. Mack Magic

Well, I bought it, and technically it is exactly as advertised. Easy to do and will fool, many (in the right circumstances). But, after all is said and done, I don't think I will use this on a regular basis.

I purchased Devination, intrigued by the advertisement. I'll be very careful purchasing from these folks in the future and will be reminded to "stick" with the classics of our art.

I’m into magic for many, many, years now and I'm so sick of getting ripped-off. (That happened much to often to me.) And, of course, if my posts were in some way provoking! I’m sorry!

I purchased the Devination. It's ok I guess. I haven’t' performed it yet.
What I can't believe is what Devin says about how no one ever challenged him on the plate. I can't believe that. I mean, when you pull a plate from your brief case to perform a trick and no one ever asks to see it close? I am a skeptic. It was a fun ride though. And, no, it's not a new principle at all. Rat Droppings.
Heavens, just when I thought mentalism was headed in the right direction, we have this effect fostered on us. Not only is the method not new, we travel back in time to the Al Mann school of mentalism where we make "magic" with all sorts of odd devices that are so out of place. Real mentalism = simplicity Paper plates in briefcase = stupid It’s no wonder Mann praised Devin on this. It was right up his alley of props with no evident purpose. Why don't we just have an elephant come out and sit on the card and then tell the spectator what the card is? The elephant couldn't be any less out of place than a plate. I really can't say what chaps me more, the prop or the claim to so much originality. Lets face it, the idea goes back as far as "reader envelopes" right up to the electric peek wallets of recent. In my opinion, taking out a plate from anywhere to use to cover a card is not reasonable in almost any situation. Unless you possibly work the barbeque circuit I do not recommend this to anyone. It's apparent that a whole lot of people have already purchased this according to the recommendations from this forum. Including myself. Walter in Denver |

Ouch! The reviews for this effect have taken a decidedly downward turn. Is this really a new method or is it a rehash?
