Is it true that Michael Moschen has very little sense (in private and on stage) of humor? Someone described him to me as that. Is that true?

For the info: Michael Moshen invented contact juggling and works with the Triangle and bounces in it...

From about 14min 20s is an example where you will get an idea of his sense of humour. I feel he is a witty guy who maybe doesn't like to crack jokes the way other performers do.

When you've got real skill like he does you don't need to cover anything with comedy like I have to Smile

I met him once, for like a second, and yes, he was about as funny in person as he is in the video above. Smile
and he did not invent contact juggling, or as he calls it kinetik juggling. he is the one who did the cj ing in Labyrinth.

If Michael Moschen didn't invent contact juggling, name one performer that was doing it before him.

I know, he didn't invent all the moves he does. But we're talking an entire style here, not just one or two moves.

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable.

What a bad thread.
I thought to responed with,
"Do any Jugglers have a sense of humour?"
(i mean, löök at 93% of the Acts today,.. clones.)
,but,.. I am nice guy,
so I won´t say that.

I thought a little history, though, might help.
,..in a couple of ways.
Please,..

In the late 1960s, Nina Krasarina and Gregory Fedin exiled Russia,
and settled in the Big Apple.
Both Circus School Instructors, and ex-Performers from the Russian National Circus.
(Gregory, a former student from Alexander Kiss. Nina, Acrobat/Physical Comedy.)
They opened a Circus Arts School, in New York City.
Low level,... high intensity.

In the late 70´s Paul Binder and Michael Christensen showed up at the door
and suggested combining efforts,..
the beginning of The Big Apple Circus.

The two Juggling students at the time; they only worked with two, in each specialty;
were Arthur Stankey and Michael Moschen.
(Philip Petit was taking Tightrope, at the time.)

Gregor Fedin´s Philosophy was: through disciplined work, with basic skills, new paths open.

Arthur Stankey worked with "Kiss Sticks". Michael Moschen,.. well, one ball,.. two clubs.
What came out of it is,... history.

Two stories.
As Michael Moschen started becoming more `noticed´, in the Big Apple Circus;
Gregory told him, ".... you should learn to juggle Five Balls. People will take you more seriously, as a Juggler."

AND, here´s the biggy.
(I know this is going to offend a lot of people,
BUT it wasn´t/isn´t meant as an insult.
So, try,... try to read it two or three times,
with an open mind,.. a positive,.. "maybe, maybe" attitude.)
Gregory Fedin preached,
"Comedy is the lowest form of Entertainment.
It ís the easiest for the masses to associate, relate, apreciate.
An Artist, a Creator, has the choice.
The Stage is yours.
,please..."

ok,
got to run,
givin´ it easy,
gallagher hayes.

I am not offended by your post. No, not at all. I found it quite interesting, what you wrote. I just met Philip Petit and his manager in Bryant Park a months ago.
As a matter of fact many technical clones, who juggle have tremendous skill, but lack employment. The loudest jugglers, but not the best become very successful like Penn jillette
