Works pretty well on my 5s. Even in shady light. Now I've got a new formula: GC+INV.DCK=A BOMB!

It looks cool, but couldn't you do this with a simple force?

Yes but it is more amazing if you allow them to say or pick anyone they want. I do not like this as much as I thought I would. It is too difficult to perform in the low lighting at the restaurants I work in. When you have at best a couple of minutes at a table you do not want to waste time trying to get a photo to line up. My 2 cents.

Hey Patrick. Just a tip you may or may not be aware of: You don't have to wait for the perfect lineup to snap the photo, you can take an image that you're 83.89% sure will work, and then while looking at the "use/retake" screen you can move sliders/tap for color/move boxes around to make some quick adjustments. I find that shaves off some time.

James,
After this post I have been playing with it more and I fell back in love with it. I think I will use it more. Thanks for the tip. Patrick |

I find myself using a similar routine to the first one in the demo video that uses two spectators. You have one spectator choose card which they don't look at. you take a photo of them holding the card for later proof. The card gets returned to the deck, you hand the deck to spectator number 2 and he chooses any card card (this one is a totally free choice and you make a big deal of that). They chooses whatever, then you produce the photo to show they are correct.
I've also played around with a spectator mind reading routine. You have spectator #1 choose a card (they don't look at it), then you take a photo of him holding the card. You then have spectator #2 try and guess what card he picked and just say it out loud. Show the photo and its correct every time. Another was trying to do a very "I won't touch anything routine". I have a Svengali deck I made with the gaff card needed, and had spectator #1 first write down on a piece of paper a card, any card, and not to show it to anybody. Then spectator number two picks a card with only me seeing what it is (cause it'll be the gaff card from the deck.) and I take a picture with him hiding the card. At this point I have not touched the piece of paper or the deck (well, other than demonstrating to the spectator how I wanted him to pick a card and hold it up). Then spectator #1 opens up the piece of paper to reveal what she wrote (or actually I had another magician look over her shoulder as she wrote it and he used "confederate mode" on his phone.) My buddys phone is linked to mine and he entered the correct card for me, then I can have the spectator pick up my phone, all while I'm saying "I haven't touched anything," open up the last photo taken and of course it shows he picked the card she wrote down ahead of time. I dunno, I'm still working out the best way for those to go. I suppose my point is I like to use this to get two people involved in an effect. |

This reminds me of Rodger Lovins' Calling Card effect from several years ago. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/1407

Hi James, Meaning does it play out as in demo if so I'm on it. Thanks

Well yeah there was nothing fancy or sneaky in the demo, that was real stuff although the bar shots were friends. As I mention in the description it won't work in every lighting situation, and it'll take a little trial and error to figure out what is bad. Best possible scenario is outside on a could day. Inside is ok if you use the flash, but it'll take some practice to be quick so that the flash is not on too long. I'd suggest that in amy new location you do a test shot before you perform. You need to make certain adjustments for each lighting condition in the app anyway, so better to do it with nobody looking and then it remembers those settings for when you next open the app.
You can always buy now and later ask for a refund from the app store if you don't think its for you. |

I'm so excited to see what else we can do with smartphones, technology and magic. I'm sure you have toyed with what we might be able to do combining a smartphone with an upcoming smart-watch?

Sorry for the slow response. the app works fine on iOS8 and the 6 and 6 plus. Theres been an update waiting for review for a loooooong time that fixes a minor iOS8 bug you'll never notice. Apple takes a vacation over the holidays...
