Hi guys.
I'm currently working on an original script for use with Tony Chris's excellent "Hampton Falls" routine. For those not familiar with the effect, it uses 8 black and white yearbook photos of highschool students, some of which are dead. There is a notion that sometimes spirits can cause us to have certain feelings or thoughts when viewing photgraphs of them when they were alive, kind of like psychometry with objects, but with photos. Does anybody know what this concept or phenomenon is called? I'd appreciate if somebody could help me find out the right term for this (if there is one) and if possible, point me in the right direction of a few sources where I might be able to find out more about this. I've tried looking this up online but am not having much luck. Thanks for your time and consideration. |

It's just a branch of psychometry as far as I know: http://readersandrootworkers.org/wiki/Ca......chometry . Some psychics seem to call it 'photo reading': http://www.silentvoices.org.uk/#/barrie-......72135752

Matcult, thanks for the reply.
Yeah, that seems to be all I can find too. What's really amazing, is that I've come across countless ads from "mediums" and "psychics" who for $100 or more, will give you a return email reading from a jpeg photo you send them. Human ingenuity never ceases to amaze me! Anyhoo, I don't really know if there is a proper term for it, but I've created one that I rather like and will use it if there is no definitive answer to this. I'll call it: Photomancy. |

I love Hampton falls, still have to pick that one up. I have "Whitestar" & "From Hell" that uses the similar pictures of dead & survived for the spectator to help correctly choose the still living from dead & I use the phrase Psychometry with the reading of the pictures or photos by the spectators.
Photomancy (conjuring of light) or even Photometery (use of astrology of measuring the flux, or intensity of an astronomical object's electromagnetic radiation) translates as something completely different should someone look it up or Google it..... |

Dang it. I looked up Photomancy.....you're right. Thought I had something good-sounding there.
Oh well, back to the drawing board I go. |

Alright, here's a new one I conjured up: Filmantracy.
Yes, I know - it's crazy. What can I say? I'm pulling an all-nighter working on this script while listening to the good ol' Grateful Dead and drinking too much coffee. I just leaked my age. |

And here I was, thinking I was the only "head" in the Café. BTW, I'm open for suggestions from anybody who wants to create a term for me. I still like Photomancy. Who says it can't have more than one meaning? |

Use what you like, I know there are some that want to use correct terminology with associated effects, really up to you in the end if that matters to you.
& I'll be more than happy to keep you company in admitting your not the "Dead head" here.....LoL Actually, watching The Mouse airbrush back then & building hot rods a bit later in life intrigued & influenced me and got me into the airbrushing biz ! |

What about 'optomancy' as a term. (Okay, I agree you can call it anything you want.)

Optomancy - I like it.
I may just use that! Thanks Yitzhak. Let me take Photomancy out of the script and drop in Optomancy. You gents care to see the script? It's finished. |
