The Great Lester: Ventriloquism's Renaissance Man by David Erskine Foreword by Jeff Dunham |

I already ordered it the other day, it's supposed to be here Monday, I'm looking forward to getting it.
I think I'm going to email Bill Nelson, he did the cover art, I want to suggest he offer posters of that cover, maybe through Café Express or something, I think that cover would look great in a frame along with my Bergen and McCarthy movie posters. Click here to view attached image.

You shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
But I guess it's okay to judge a cover by its cover. You're right! That cover really pops. A poster of it is a great idea. I'll be ordering a copy of the book myself very soon. ----------------------------------------- PS http://www.amazon.com/Ventriloquism-Kind......8294728/ Ventriloquism and Kindred Arts by Fred Russell on sale for $8.55 . |

One thing I don't have to worry about, judging this book by it's cover, I already have these other "books" by Erskine which I liked; -Letters To Willie -The Ages of Ventriloquism, the disguised voice in folklore -Latchstring, remembering Bergers and VH -Edgar Bergen, an interview anthology -Conversations with members of the vent family Vol. 1 (Bernstein, Boley,Boyd,Nelson) -Conversations with members of the vent family Vol. 2 (Johnson, Kidla, King, Mahendra)

Sweet! My copy arrived early, it was waiting for me when I got home from work today.
Just flipping through it I can tell it's going to be interesting.

Just from looking through it, it looks like it's worth the wait.
I wish I wasn't already in the middle of another book right now.

I learned vent from 'Lester's Legacy' the ever popular cassette/book course from the 1970's. I believe this was taught by one of his students and respected ventriloquist Bob Faulkner. I still have the book, the tapes have long since became unusable.

My book arrived today!
Amazon took only ten days to get it to me here in Asia. Not too bad! So far, it looks all right. I do wish there were more pics of Lester in it, though. And the "fictional memoir" style is a bit odd. Still, it is defintely worth the price! . |

I've always found Amazon to be pretty quick, they got bogged down sometimes over the holidays, but so does every place.
I haven't been able to start reading mine yet, but looking forward to getting to it soon.

Thanks to thi thread I ordered the book. I received it and could not put it down. Well written and a great story of a real pioneer. If you like the more recent history of this art this is a must read.
