Hi,
I have tried working on original cups and balls routines for a couple of years. I have mainly concentrated on routines using the Elmsley idea.

I have recently decided to branch away from that idea and have recently had a new idea, a routine that starts at the end. I want to start with the loads in the cups.
here is what I have so far:

1 cup is removed from a pocket and placed on to the table. 2 more cups (stacked) are removed from another pocket. they are placed on the table and immediatly lifted, to show that there is now a peppermill underneath, which is the height of both cups when stacked.

The cups are then set up in the position for the betting game where to cups are mouth up the middle one mouth down, and you have to turn them all the same way in 3 moves. Having done this all three cups are lifted and under each is a tennis ball (or whatever the final load is).

I am currently experimenting with having special holders in my jacket. I have a method in which it looks as though the object is removed from the cups but is actually just pulled up at the same time as the cups are lifted (having been cupped in the right hand). It is also possible to do this using all three cups and a larger object.

I was wondering if anybody else had any ideas for how I could get the large load.

Do you think the routine would work, look good etc?

Have you seen the Red Dwarf episode "backwards"?

While magicians may know the flow of a cups routine, most audiences will be quite without those expectations.

If you are good with a servante, you can switch out the cups as needed for the loads. Having a set of five or six cups can be quite useful.

The routine would be created for a competition.

Is this routine designed to answer the restaurant manager's question as to having performers produce the salad at the customer's table? Better produce the tomato as a finale lest you get tossed. Smile
