I agree with those who favor real coins: current, out of circulation, foreign, whatever. They are just more "genuine." And I can't imaging that a routine where I would have guests handling more coins than I could keep track of...I wouldn't hand out more than one or two at a time anyway.
That having been said, I can conceive of using Mardi Gras coins, tokens and other collectible non-money metallic disks for special routines or just for fun. Professionally made palming coins just don't sit right with me for close up work. OTOH, if you had custom made coins that were personalized with your likeness/logo/phone number/whatever and tossed them out for souvenirs/advertising after the routine, that would be pretty cool. People would hang onto those and know they weren't fake - sort of a metal business card...of course you can even get shells and other gimmicks made for them if you wanted to... Just a thought... tr |
