I know we all like to browse the magic Tricks for Sale but sometimes I wish we had a for sale site just for magic tricks that related to bizarre magic. Does anyone else feel this way and is it possible to do it? Maybe there isn't enough sales to carry it.... Just thinking.

That would be awesome, but unfortunately there are so many sub-sects of magic that we could expect everyone to want their own sections...at least here on The Café. Conversely, I haven't seen a big problem with bizarre effects posted in the general "for sale or trade" section, as those effects usually end up in a good home due to their obscurity. At least regarding the higher end effects, folks aren't going to layout that much cash for a prop they've never heard of...and especially if it's old, rusty, and smelly-looking .
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I like this idea, surely it must be posible, it would sabe having to look through everything.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

It can be quite easily actually... a sticky post in the cellar where you post a number (others use the next number in line) to line up a post of things. eg.
1. I have this item. when further advancing the thread you can refer your questions ot that number or pm, the seller can then say in the thread post number 1 sold or item that from post 1 is still available. |

It wouldn't be too dificult to put up clasified ad site for magic divided in categories. I'll could do it but not untill August I'm afraid
If you are interested let me know, and I'll give it some thought. or maybe someone else wants to give it a try. The site could be password protected and hidden from google

Chris Gould is working on something akin to this idea.

I have been thinking of the same thing. The question is, what qualifies as a bizarre effect? For example, if I take a "Bag of Myrrlyn" which has the odd property of allowing anything placed inside of it, even a common egg, to vanish from our dimension and appear within the bag later, is this a bizarre effect? If I refer to this bag as the "Felted Singularity" which is made of a special material that allows me to safely contain a miniature black hole so that anything placed into the device, such as an egg, will instantly be compressed to one ten-billionth of its original size by the vast gravitational fields at play within the bag, is it bizarre enough?

A thought.
If it looks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, or waddles like a duck, is it an egg bag? If the bag was made of animal hide and rather than an egg, use a monkey skull , would it still be an egg bag. What makes one bizarre and not the other? Is it the tale that makes it bizarre, or the tail waggin the dog? Bizarre is like beauty. It exists only in the eyes of the beer holder. De Nomolos knows noses. |
