How many of you have read his quatraines and seen specials or like the history of old Mike?

I have read them. Thet seem a little bit subjectional to me.

I have read some of his quatraines but unless someone else Interprets them for me, I find them hard to make heads or tails of. I have a vhs tape that I recorded in 1984 called "Nostradamus" narrated by Orson Wells. I believe it was aired on PBS. It is a fun film to watch but I don't know what to make of it.
I tend to agree with Mya Angel but I still have an open mind to these sort of things and I am still curious and searching.

Actually I think they are more the ultimate in “Hurling the Head lines”!

I have read them, dug out a few to use in presentations, and made up a few predictions that I attributed to good old Michel de Nostredame.

I used to open a show with the first Quatrain from his first Century (Quatrain 1 – Century 1).
The lights were low and came up as a voice over proclaimed:

Sitting alone at night in secret study,
It is placed on the brass Tripod
A slight flame comes out of the emptiness and
Makes successful that which should not be believed in vain
(Translation from the French).

I thought it was a cool way to begin a mental magic show.

I have read some about Mike.
Michel Nostradamus [born 1503] was a very fascinating man. Nostradamus predicted many world events.

Wow!! Can you believe it!

Michel de Nostredame actually predicted the last two posts in his Second Century-52nd Quatrain

The young and volatile disbeliever casts wide his doubt
It is to others he guides his point
From nothingness and emptiness comes the lie
That the older mage foretold anon.

This is Freaky! I believe that Nostradamas actually foretold the post of Volant and Frank’s response.

Actually, Harry's desperate need to validate Nostradamus has lead him to inaccurately interpreting that particular Quatrain. Nostradamus' reference to "Mage" is actually the name for a region of the lower Danube which Nostradamus had been to many times. Smile

And there you see the beauty of Nostradamus work! It can be interpreted in so many different ways given knowledge of history, geography, economics, and politics that any individual person interpreting the Quatrains has. Marko had knowledge that I didn’t!

Smile

That said I turn to Quatrain 68 of Century Seven and note he wrote:

The page is marked with great distain
The river crossed before the sun is high
Wisdom drained and wisdom gained and
Played to given proof of the delights of the mind.
(Translated from the French)

Smile Smile Smile

Could Nostradamus have predicted Marko ("marked" implying both the name and the act!) would reinterpret the earlier quatrain? The line of the “river crossed before the sun is high” even implies the time in which Marko would post his “wisdom”! This is uncanny beyond belief!!!!!!!! Of course my French is a bit rusty and my translations may not be that great!

Though few people know the secret code embedded in the writing of Nostradamus. Every 11th letter (the length of his name is a special marked code). Thus, the quatrain that Mr. Murphy has shared and which I have converted to the original French language (using systran http://www.systransoft.com/

la marque de page avec grand distain les crosses de rivière avant du soleil est l'haut sagesse drainé et sagesse gagné et joué à la preuve donnée des plaisirs de l'esprit

The marked letters (marko, again … hmmmm) are revealed as PNSIDLEGTUSL which everyone knows is an anagram for
Signet “D” pulls
(literal English translation = bookmark D sweaters)

Bookmark is a computer term to make note of something. If you do a google search for “D sweaters”, this is the website that comes up first (if you ignore the paid ads).

Thus, I humbly suggest that Nostradamus foretold computers, the internet, babblefish, systrans, and bookmarks. If you want to interpret this to mean that you should do further investigation at this website, please continue your scholastic pursuits there.

By some strange coincidence, the ecological leather hat is something I have always admired, but never been able to find. How could Nostradamus have planned his message for me so many years ago.

Haha!
You guys crack me up!
I agree with all said though. Nostradamus' writings can be interpreted in many different ways. Like any writing (the bible, the koran, the declaration of independance etc) "hidden meaning" can be found if one cares to look hard enough. The hard part is getting enough people to believe in it so that other people wont feel silly for believing in it!

Whew!

All this wobbles the mind doesn’t it?!? Smile

I just love this discussion. Thanks for the re-translation EL. Hey Chris, history has shown that if you are willing to look silly enough in your beliefs for long enough then you will find that it gives others the strength to follow you!

Hey, did anyone notice that Ellen started this mess but bailed out right away. Mr. N may have predicted that with (Quatrain 12 – Century 10).

The smiling face leaves the doorway
As trouble brews with truth told out
A candle lighted yet darkness prevails
Mirth and wonder posed with ease and equality

Welcome back to the thread! You knew that it was going to get this involved as soon as you opened that door!

I know Mr. N did! (Q-22/C-22)

She loves the hat that is not worn
Cast forth the die caring not win or lose
The air full of words the meanings steeped in glory
Makes of fun the laughter amidst the thought so deep
