Well it is hard to do a card trick when one is sitting on the deck.

Foreva.infinity, you appear to be relatively young, so hopefully you might find what I write below helpful. Even if I'm wrong about your age, please take this in the helpful spirit it's given. Here's a story. Literally yesterday, I was talking to a friend whose father was a lawyer. When she was a kid, her father would always ask her "what do you mean?" when she said stuff. And sometimes it would drive her crazy, because she thought what she said was perfectly clear. Many years later, she became a lawyer herself. And one day, she had a similar interaction with someone at a store... they thought they said something perfectly clear, but she was sensitive to some kind of ambiguity. The point is, there are a lot more shades of gray in language than you might think. One doesn't have to be a lawyer to become sensitized to this. In fact, mentalists probably acquire great sensitivity to language as time goes on. And, to be sure, there are lawyers, mentalists, and even lawyer/mentalists in this forum. Moreover, most of the people here write their posts in good faith. Although there are certainly disagreements -- and occasionally heated disagreements -- people here at least always believe what THEY'RE writing (although they might not believe what other people write). In other words, there don't appear to be many (any?) trolls here. The takeaway from all this is, when someone says something and you don't agree, they're not doing it to screw with you. Try to understand where they're coming from. If you think you understand where they're coming from, try to re-state their logic to see if your understanding is right. Maybe you'll disagree with them, or maybe you won't, but it always helps to at least get on the same page. The corollary to that is: here, and indeed in life, simply re-stating your original statement is never a way to move the ball forward in a discussion or argument. |

Oh, and answering the original question:
I'm not a magic scholar, although I wish I was. Perhaps for that reason (among many others, obviously), my favorite magician is Ricky Jay. But knowing my scholarly limits, I don't have an opinion on the greatest magician in the history of the world. |

Well I guess it was my uncle.
He had a deck of cards and said pick a card. I did. He said put it on top of the deck. I did. He cut the cards losing it forever, then he proceeded to look through the deck and found it. I was five maybe six at the time. Still the best I ever knew.
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000
