I have this DVD and I really like it! I really don't worry about whether it will fool magicians or not. I think it is a great effect. I think it really could use a "plot". However, that is for each magician to come up with on their own.

There are a few additional effects on the DVD:

Single Deck - Not bad, but a bit confusing.

Instant Solitaire - I really didn't like this effect, The deck is shuffled a couple times by the participant and then the cards are all dealt one by one and they can be layed out from ace to king with only one discard. After watching the effect, as a layman, I would think the cards were arranged in some order that the shuffling didn't alter enough to make a difference.

Photo Transpo - This is a nice effect. I also really like the story "plot" he uses. A photo is selected from a group of black and white photos and one from a group of color photos. The selected photos trade places and in the end, they fit together, as if they were taken at the same time, but one is in the past (b&w) and the other is in the future (color).

So, I really liked the two deck effect and the photo effect.

Apparently the magicians who do magic only for other magicians.... As sad as that sounds.

I have this and was baffled at first by the faro. Promo says faro not required, but DVD offers no alternative. I guess you could do a very even riffle ? Anyway, I practiced this a lot and got the one-deck table faro down pretty well. Any faro would do, but the table shuffle looks so cool. A two-deck regular faro isn't all that hard, but the table version with two is not all that easy. The cards tend to clump. You need very flexible cards, so older decks are better.

And then I found a neat solution: Bicycle Dura-Flex Prestige cards. I know, I know, there will be purists out there who cringe at using anything but standard Bicycles (as tho spectators know or care at all about what cards you use). With these cards, suddenly the two-deck table faro was a breeze! Burch says on the DVD that the faro "just happens automatically." Maybe not helpful teaching, but with the Prestige cards, he is absolutely right. I'm sure that with a lot of practice you could get a perfect two-deck shuffle with any cards. (Well, obviously: just watch Burch do it; it's very pretty.) But these plastic cards may amaze you. Be sure to angle the decks against each other. That is a key point he makes.

As for the effect itself, I like it. But then I, too, am a Triumph aficionado. I would say that it tends to be a little complicated for the specs to follow, perhaps. You will want to patter in a way that keeps them engaged.

Grampa Wizard thank you for your tips. I have talked with Penguin about this and tried to get that sentance taken off the ad copy. I even went as far as to make another video that gives tips on using a regular casino shuffle and I'd be glad to send the link to anybody interested.

It's great that you played around with different cards. I find it works well with 2 different decks of 2 different ages, the separation comes a little more naturally that way.

Let me know if you'd like that video,

Josh
