Anyone knows what is the best MECHANICAL BALL (silk to ball) on the market?
It seems it's very fragile and the springs break easily... Thanks for your help ! |

I have seen (advertised, not in performance) several versions of this and "automatic" silk-to-egg. In my view, they are unnecessary, impractical, lazy, and un-magical.

From what I have heard, Viking Magic sells one that is metal and comes with a 22 inch diamond cut silk.
One person posted that his ball was plastic and only lasted one time. Although this product is being sold on eBay by Chinese vendors. So being he did not say who or where he ordered it from, we don't know what he was referring to. For some reason he would not say. As none of the other vendors say if theirs are made of plastic or metal, I would tend to purchase from Viking Magic. Plastic will not hold up to the heat created with the spinning axis. |

I had a nice metal one can't remember the maker.
And it worked great. But was too loud retacting the silk in. It just ruined the effect. Todd |

I believe all gimmicks of this nature make noise, it is because it is mechanical and uses metal gears. This type of gimmick is meant for stage work while music is playing and not near a microphone that can pick up the sound of the device.
Of course this is not mentioned in the advertisement, as they want to sell as many of their products they can to the limited market of magic enthusiast. And then those are interested in automatic silk to ball tricks. The performances I have seen, the audience always make an audible sound of gasp when this trick is performed or any silk that vanishes instantly. I believe it is worth taking the time to perfect the trick and work out an difficulties in presenting such a stunning effect. |
