Didn't see any red letter links. Seems like a simple straight-forward article with a bit of self promotion mixed in, what are you referring to Slim?

I lost ALL respect for Angel on October 31 2007.
His ego is ridiculous. Met him at a lecture. His lecture was supposed to be on escapes...instead he spent the entire time talking about how great he is. Total waste of my time and money. |

I've talked to someone who used to consult for him. Not a nice bloke, apparently.

I clicked on the links. One was to his website one was to an article about the show he is working on. What's the problem with that exactly?

Is this true???????
A direct quote from the Article CA wrote about himself. "I am fortunate my BeLIEve show continues to draw huge audiences to the Luxor Hotel and Casino's 1,533-seat theater." I could be wrong but that's not what I heard... I heard they are practically giving the tickets away to keep a respectable amount of people in the seats.

I did some research. I have a friend that lives in Henderson, NV. He tells me the same thing Jon says above. "Not a nice guy". That is sad. He never used to be that way. Things changed when he moved West. He is really under a lot of pressure. He was not prepared for that. Ya think Hollywood and LV are glamorous? Ha! Think again! I know a couple people who are considered "stars", and they'll tell you how thankless and cut-throat Hollywood is! Las Vegas is just an extension of that.

As Robert Ringer pointed out, in Hollywood "down and out" equals "leper."

Never liked angel or blaine. they "perform street magic" that is really stage illusions that need massive set up and are not real examples of street magic at all. Lifting a watch and having it appear in a window display with a hand through window, or walking up a wall.
Yes magic is based in deceit but they lie "For it shows things that were, and things that are, and things that yet may be. But which it that he sees, even the wisest cannot always tell" ~Galadriel "A heretic is a man who sees with his own eyes." |

Sadly, an Australian magician, Cosentino, is following Angel's lead. He has had 3 TV specials with camera tricks in "street magic". he used to be my favorite magician. Then he came in 2nd in Australia's Got Talent and sold out. He got a Merlin award. He is on Australia's "Dancing with the Stars". He was extremely creative , with illusion presentation and dancing. Now he presents straight forward "girl in the box" tricks and escapes, with preset street magic in between.

I have to say I've spent time with Blaine and he was a genuinely nice guy...and when the subject of Criss was brought up, he cringed and said "I don't return his phone calls."

Criss is part of his own clique. I used to know who that was...but not any more. I cannot slam a man for trying to make a buck. But...these polarized groups help NOBODY. Especially in Magic! Eugene Burger has an interesting philosophy about this. I can't remember where I saw it.
Blaine has his own type-no, STYLE of Magic. You cannot combine that with any other act. Criss' problem is he tries to be ALL things, and it's not working. Some hits and sticks, some does not. Criss is TOO much of a "showman". The Magic gets buried in the hype of "The Show". With Blaine, you get none of that. What you see is what you get with Blaine. For the most part, anyway. Doug |

My first thought about 10 minutes in, was that essentially, he's the Australian Criss Angel. Right down to his brother working on the show with him and constantly saying how worried he is whenever they talk about his big escape trick, just like on Mindfreak. The show was OK but even 7 years ago, we'd seen all this before. As to Angel himself, I was a fan early on and watched every TV show he did, but he changed and not in a good way. His last TV show I believe was called Trick'd and was simply putrid, almost impossible to watch. |
