Tell the people at WIKI about the misconceptions. It is their definition not mine.
And again I ask for your educational background. Why is it the wizards of smart never seem to answer that? Or use pseudonyms? Other than making grand pronouncements on message boards what education do you have in marketing and advertising?

I don't ever recall claiming I was an "amazing IT guy", nor did I ever say I was "great" at it.
And I'm pretty sure your numbers on my videos are way off - my floating cigarette video alone has more than 20k views. And regardless of the number of views, it has translated into a lot of Web Spinner sales (now in the thousands). Have you heard of my Web Spinner?? Getting great reviews, 5 stars at Steve's site (I like to round the 4.5 up). Lots of great reviews here on The Magic Café too. From some big name magicians even. So if you are indeed posing a "serious question", then you can see that I'm using YouTube to push promo videos for products. Not just the Web Spinner; I'll include a link to one of my shows to prospective clients - much like sending them a promo reel, only it is a lot faster and doesn't cost me anything. One does not need a million views/followers to make money online, you just need to target the right people. Oh wait, I am an "amazing IT guy" ... only, not the computer kind ... the levitation kind. hehe ... more amusement! Yeah, I know ... I amuse easily. And again, I'm not giving you advice. I simply stating what works for me, and people can get what they want from it. If I see something on a thread and want to say something, I will say it. If you don't like what I say, then that is your problem - not mine. Just because someone gives you advice does not mean you are obligated to take it. -JoeJoe

Ok so lets do this. I am sick of idiotic unsolicited advice from those without a clue about what I do so lets talk web spinner.
I am indeed posing a serious question and will pose another. I have never sold a magic trick. I have no idea what a lot or a little sales would be. Seems 1,000 is pretty good. What is the effect? I assume being a street guy it can be done surrounded? If one was to look to purchase one where would they find it? No more dumb arguments? No more advice. Lets talk Web Spinner. (I did get the IT reference. ) My problem with that is lacking the skills to make it look floating and not hanging if you take my meaning. Is there a good way to make things look more "floaty" and less "hangy"? Or have I confused web spinner and floating cigarette?

"And again I ask for your educational background.
" I've already given you my credentials. Your post seems directed at 2 people. "I am sick of idiotic unsolicited advice from those without a clue about what I do" Actually the advice you have been given is pretty sound. and it really doesn't matter what you do, marketing is marketing. there are different approaches if you are going after a B2B market as opposed to a B2C market, but for the most part, the techniques are the same. As far as unsolicited advice: YOU started the post, not anyone else. If you didn't want discussion, why did you post it at all? Put up your Facebook page and see what happens. There was absolutely no reason to post the fact that you started a Facebook page here unless you wanted to discuss it. |

I'm not sure where you're going with this, but since you are asking about the Web Spinner I'm obligated to reply. :/
I'll refer you to the Latest and Greatest Forum: Web Spinner post: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=218 Web Spinner DVD post: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=218 If you have the correct lighting you can do it surrounded, the DVD goes into great detail on how to properly light invisible thread so you never have to second guess your lighting - walk into any room and you will know where you can float and where you cannot. The DVD also teaches how to do thread work properly without any "bounce" or "hanging": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91j_5pi7kOY Michael Angelo Bill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRcU1BUdKhg Floating Cigarette Re-make (my modified Fearson hookup) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cHs43VEYto Original Floating Cigarette I should point out that the Fearson Hookup is not on the DVD (nor is my modified version). But if you already know the Fearson hookup, my 'orbit' and 'hover' moves are on the DVD. -JoeJoe

Slide I posted it only so contrary morons don't later look at an old post where I said I didn't have a page and say I lied. Guys like you who just want to argue at all costs.
While you can't imagine a business that is successful not needing to attract customers with the internet they exist. While maybe discussing is not off the table arrogant pronouncements about things you know nothing about are tedious and make you look foolish.

You mean instead of the topic you started? Why not just start a new topic if you want to discuss Web Spinner. You one wacky dude. |

Now I'm amused that the topic has been changed to the Web Spinner ... seems odd to have the topic starter request the thread go off-topic; diffidently one of the stranger posts I've participated on.

OK then forget it.
I wanted to stop getting advice I never asked for from a couple of the worlds foremost authorities on everything. Funny though how nobody wants to list their educational experience. Slide just claims to have money in the bank and has started companies. Pretty cryptic.

I don't think people want to disclose how much money they make on a public forum for all the world to see, I know I don't. The bottom line is they most likely know more about Facebook than you do even if they are not "experts", since by your own admission you have just started using it. It is pretty obvious to anyone that does understand Facebook that you don't know a lot about it (which would be completely understandable, as you just created your page).
Not that you want my advice ... but since I've been dragged this deep into the thread ... perhaps you might benefit by asking yourself what these people want with your Facebook page?? If you just give them a blank page with a link to your website, you will not likely gain much from having it. They don't want a link to your website, they want a "Facebook page". Once someone "likes" your page, then the comments/pictures/links you post there will get displayed on their "news feed" ... you may feel you do not need this, but this is what they are requesting of you. Just creating a page will not satisfy them. Unlike static webpages, Facebook is more of a "real time" thing that is constantly updated. If you post your link today, it will scroll off their news feed tomorrow. Or if they "like" your page tomorrow, they may never even see it. I myself don't use Facebook a lot ... I use it more for personal use than I do for "JoeJoe". JoeJoe has a page, and every once in a while he makes a comment or posts a picture. Sometimes I'll share something from the Barefoot Landing page (where I work). It's nothing fancy and doesn't have a lot of likes, as I really spend more time on other sites than I do Facebook. It's pretty much just there because like yourself, I get people that ask if I have one. https://www.facebook.com/AmazingJoeJoe Overall, I think your view of Facebook is skewed. While there is a lot of hype about marketing on it, it is more of a social tool more than anything else. Much like I use the Café here as a social tool. The Café is after all just another social network. You don't question how much return you get on your investment by using the Café, why you would need to do that with Facebook?? The people that watch your show want to have a social connection to you, much like you want a social connection to magicians on the Café. -JoeJoe

NOW the thread is off-topic? They must have deleted the part of the OP where Danny asked for advice and detailed information about social networking methodology and purposes.

I think I've listed my educational creditentials many times in the past. Undergraduate at Bucknell, graduate work in the prestigious Computer Art masters degree program at SVA in New York and I studied computer programming at Pitt.
None of which prepared me for my eventual career since the web didn't exist when I was in college. Hoever if you had asked Bill Gates or Steve Jobs the same question, you would have found out they were college dropouts. Not sure what answer your question is supposed to give you. The fact is that I at least, haven't been addressing my posts to you, since it is clear you are a dinasaur. But for others who want this info. |

I guess it is now our time to wonder why you avoid the question of your educational background, even though you seem so adamant about others giving theirs.
From my perspective, you seem like a bully, quick to call others names, and with nothing to back up your position. You say we don't understand your business model, but you never give us your business model. You say we know nothing about how your busines works, but you don't provide any evidence to the contrary specific to your business. You are just kind of blowhard ******. |
