That's hilarious.

Personally, I think that language is corrupting modern technology.

I really cannot get worked up over that. I mean, the corporations switching from names to letters (acronyms) 'trend' goes back generations. Think CVS, Geico (yup, Geico is an abbreviation), H&M, YKK, BVD, ING, GM, 3M, AT&T, etc. Some others here:

I must be missing a joke, because I don't see the hilarity in this. See my post above. FWIW, the Bank of Montreal has also been trading under the ticker symbol BMO (on several different international exchanges) for decades. Another reason why it seems to me like a perfectly sensible way to refer to the company.

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Yeah, I think you missed the joke. Not speaking for the rest, the funny part was that The Bank of Montreal is being called bee-mo, that's all. It just sounds funny. George Carlin would might have written a whole routine about it.

I, for one, am impressed when anyone these days can use the word "comprise" correctly.

Bravo, Bob!

Thanks! I noticed one of our most revered members here used it incorrectly recently, but I didn't correct him on it despite my urge to do so. He probably knows who he is. Smile

Okay, fair enough. FWIW, though, I think more people actually call it "B M O", i.e. sound out the initials, than call it bee-mo. Maybe it is a regional thing.

Full disclosure, I used to work for BMO (while living in Toronto).

You mean you used to work for Bee Mo? Better that than BM! ;-)

I really don't know how to respond to the last few things mentioned about my post it just sound like people are intentionally being hurtful so I'm just going to have to remove myself from the picture for a little while. See you guys around.

I have two friends, one in his fifties and the other in his sixties. Neither one knows how to use capital letters! Neither one knows how to use correct grammar. I won't even mention spelling! What with SpellCheck so readily available...I just don't understand it.

I have to edit their emails into paragraphs, and punctuate run-on sentences. I really got tired of it and mentioned it to one. Boy did I get FLAMED! Now, I see articles on the 'net so badly written, I wonder...does anyone really care any more? Smile Education today is a joke.
