OK, not what you think... This is her recording of "Jolene" slowed down by 25%.
It is surprisingly awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzYHllLv_IE#at=81

Read in some of the comments that some who have time to experiment with software say this is not Dolly. It is interesting, though.
By the way, Michael, if you've never heard Mindy Smith, check out her version with Dolly, as well as her other work. Very talented lady. Her link to Dolly's song is to the right of the page you linked. |

Very witty Michael. Well done! I doubt that this is Dolly at reduced speed. The interesting thing is that whoever is responsible for it (either the recording or the slowing down) isn't taking credit--yet. Looking forward to the resolution.
It is a cool version, regardless.

It has been a pleasure hearing the different renditions of the song, and discovering the great talent of these other artists. Thanks much!
I'm not sure if the link I posted was Dolly or not. I was going on blind faith. But, I still love that version of the song. It has that kind of haunting sound that Eric Clapton achieved with his unplugged "Layla". ME - Glad you liked the humor in the title. I figured it would either draw some folks in or repel them away. Either outcome was OK by me. ![]()

I think that slowed down like this it kinda sounds like Cher singing it.
I agree though, Surprisingly Awesome. |

That is a slower performance of someone else singing a Dolly tune.

She may not be the most attractive woman, but boy...that matters NOT to me! Her voice just makes CHILLS go up my spine! Imagine HER singing you to sleep! Wow! Fantastic woman, Paula Cole.

It is hard to say if that is Dolly or not. She has a pretty fast vibrato and other than a couple of places, I didn't hear the slowed down version of that vibrato. But it definitely could be her.
She is an incredible talent, not just a singer and performer but as a songwriter. I assume most know she wrote the Whitney Houston hit I Will Always Love You. |

The food channel says that a visit to Dolly Wood without trying her famous fried chicken and giant portions of apple pie ala mode is making a big big mistake.

I think it's genuine and cool
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I have heard Dolly's chicken is great. Not surprised. The woman is a winner. A genuine good soul. God bless her. I still can't get over Paula Cole singing "Jolene". I get chills. And I did not know Whitney's song was written by Dolly. That IS cool!
