Thx. I know about the truffle shuffle but thought he was doing something else! Probably because of the variation.

He does the unweave before the spring. He also tilts his hands back for cover.

Since we're getting techincal here, I'd say in that sense it reminds me also of the way I've seen Lennart Green and Richard Osterlind handle theirs (although Richard as a mentalist likes to do the "move" on his knee, but that's neither here nor there). There's others who do it similarly - I know I'm sometimes a little lazy and don't worry about the unweave happening after the spring starts.

Interesting to see this still bumped. It is interesting to see Blaine perform impromptu.
What's the name of the first effect? I've seen him perform that several times--it looks like a basic ACAAN, but the "think of any name and spell to it" limits the selection a bit more than ACAAN, but actually makes it seems a little more impressive to the spectator, IMO. |

Blaine setting up for OTW right under everybody's collective nose is too cool for school. Smooth.

Seeing the power of MemDeck in action is truly inspirational.
I've gone years always wanting to start MemDeck. Now I'm finally ready. Starting 20 years ago would have been really smart, but alas it's never too late... The journey continues. MemDeck seems to open up so many magical doors. I'm looking forward to the next 20 years of using the ideas. |

If you haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend reading 'Memories are Made of This', Simon Aronson's free pdf introduction to some of the basic ideas and principles behind Memorized Deck Magic. I found (and still find) it similarly inspirational. Realising just what is possible with a Memorized Deck - then realising that's just the tip of the iceberg - can really get the creative juices flowing. http://magicians.simonaronson.com/ |

I understand (after reading Chapter One again) how he does the second trick where she picks 5 cards and I've been doing the same trick successfully. But, he does the same trick on Jimmy Fallon and I can't figure out how he determines Jimmy's card out of the 5 unless a key bit is edited out which it may very well be.

Since I'm a mentalist, I frame the trick as illustrating the power of unconscious memory. I tell them to say the cards out loud as I go through them, on the pretense that this will plant the positions of the cards in their unconscious memory without them really knowing. When I'm done, I ask them if they can remember the first several cards in the deck, let my hand drop and cut on this off beat, and then go from there. It fries them really hard because they are then 100% the deck was quite random and out of order, because they just watched me go through it card by card. |

@shakuni
Okay, interesting. Thanks. Anything in particular you'd recommend? |

@shakuni I suspect after he says "think of a card" he says something like "put it behind your back" and then "i mean put all the cards behind ur back". You can see this part must have been edited out, look at Jimmy's fingers just before he puts the cards behind his back.
