I want to bring your attention to this book.
I had heard of Cellini to be a master of magic, and was aware that his ideas with the Linking Rings were legendary. On this basis I bought 'The Royal Touch: A Guide to the Art of Street Performing' and I have not regreted it. Although the ideas and magic are aimed towards the street performer, it is a brilliant reference book for all magicians. Most of you are probably aware of the amazing skill and popularity that Cellini has as a street performer, and this book tips the routines that made his name as possibly the greatest street performer. The first 30 pages are filled with performance stories and tips that normally only come from years of performing. He gives you tips on hats, clothes, importance of presentation, props etc. This section concludes by describing his relationship with Slydini. along side all of this are large black and white photos of Cellini performing. The remainder of the book is dedicated to routines and sleights. Included are Cellini's wand routine, cups and balls, thumb tip tips, card routines, coin routines and of course the full works on the linking rings. The ring section is probably all you will every need to know. A brilliant book, Owen |

I've been interested in this book for a long time. I'm wondering about the linking rings section, does it detail his full routine or does it, like his Rings DVD just detail the sleights and moves involved?

It does give all the individual links, covers etc. and then continues with the routine.Whether you will be able to learn the routine from the description is debateable, as it is written in a way which is slightly unclear.
You can buy just the Ring section from the book as well for a lot less. But if you ask me the whole book is valuable. Owen I read this in another thread, it is about the availability of The Royal Touch: Quote:
Very hard to find, usually. I just got an e-mail that it's available from Denny & Lee for $90, and it's worth every penny. I got lucky and got my copy from Hank Lee's a couple of years ago for $80. I bought my own copy at the International Magic Convention last weekend for £35. I don't know how many dollars this is but the book is available from http://www.zauberladen.com/cellini_englisch.html |

For those interested only in Cellini's linking ring moves, I will sell "Cellini's Lord of the Rings," a 20-page (8.5" x 11") illustrated manuscript describing the ring moves contained in "Cellini: The Royal Touch."
The price is $11, and I pay postage to addresses in the United States. PayPal preferred. E-mail me at johnkokot@aol.com. |
