I'm new here and looking for some criticism. Bad criticism is the best. I'm just curious if you would be interested in playing with a deck of 60 cards.
It's actually a 60 card deck + 4 Jokers. You would normally not play with the jokers, but jokers have been around for 150 years and it's about time they get their own suit. The jokers will have the same rank as the Fool in the Tarot cards. The rank of the cards are as followed. (K, Q, B, C, J, T, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A, J(oker)) Basically, what I'm trying to do is make the ace the lowest card. Cards have been around for 600 years and only in the last 200 years has the ace been the highest. Next, I'm adding 2 new face cards. The Bishop and Cavalier. So, if you ever got a Royal Flush with these cards you have 5 court cards. Today a Royal Flush is 3 court cards and 2 Pip cards. I guess you can say I'm trying to spice things a bit. I'm planning on Aristocrat stock, but would I want Smooth or Embossed finish. Which one is the best for fanning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv8uhYpdzPg http://pinterest.com/sprouts1115/texasplayingcardscom/ |

Welcome to the Café sprouts1115!
To get right to your point, I don't think I could get used to a sixty card deck as you describe. I'm a believer that Ace should be high or low as needed in Poker unless some oddball game is declared. And the guys I play poker with there like a lot of those oddball games! That's not a criticism, that's merely an opinion. Welcome to the Café. Lots of nice people in here. Once you've made fifty posts you will receive access to other places the general public isn't exposed to, including a forum where you can buy and sell magic, among other things.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Welcome sprouts1115,
I like my bikes and I'll probably stick to that. I don't even have an interest in the new collector cards. I want the public to take my cards as a normal deck (they are) and the ubiquitous bikes are a nice combination of normal looking and good quality to work with (not as good as they used to be). I think all these new decks undermine the easy acceptance of all cards as being normal but that is not my choice and I cannot stop the tide. As far as the # of cards, I would find 60 hard to handle and very hard to flourish. I'd still say, do what you want. There are lots of collectors out there and things in the card world are changing rapidly. -Mary Mowder |

Mary Mowder - It's actually 64 cards you would flourish. Would Embossed or Smooth be better? I also, put a poll up on Theory 11 about it. Getting some feedback if you want to go down the rabbit hole...http://forums.theory11.com/showthread.php?39840-New-Idea-for-a-64-card-deck

Me and my friends like to play new interesting games so if there was a good game involved with the cards I might consider purchasing. Not sure about a magic application though...

Welcome sprouts. I lived in San Antonio Texas for a year when I was in the military. Nice place.
I'm kinda with Mary. I stick with bikes. I don't like anything that looks out of the ordinary with cards. I don't want any hint of gaff. Cool concept. I'm sure others may like. But not for me. Anyways - welcome to the Café. Jim |

Bicycle is going to be the first run this deck. I'm trying to make the first deck as special as I can. I'm just trying to get the Magicians point of view. Would you rather have Embossed or Smooth if you had to flourish 64 cards? I'm thing Smooth from what I've read for quick snaps...I know I can't make everyone happy with this deck, but I'm trying to make it for collectors, gamblers, and magicians...
