If you are not a subscriber, you should be. Each month, Duane Laflin deals with the issues of showmanship, theatrics, best practices as well as giving some great ideas and routines for props. I am very honored to have had several of my routines featured in several of the past issues - and the current one. Now before you think this is a shameless plug... let me make you aware, that I do not recieve any payment, benefits or discounts on product - I pay the same subscription fee for the magazine like everyone else.
You should consider checking it out: http://www.laflinmagicstore.com/ProductD......ode=MGMM |

I want to echo Jamie. I really like Grand Magic Magazine too! Its full of great ideas and incite on how to do a better magic show.
I also like that if you do subscribe you get a 5% discount on purchases from his store as long as you are a member)... The other bonus is the videos you get with it! He shows you his patter on the tricks he features in the magazine and a few tips on how to perform them. No doubt it is worth the 30 dollars for the 12 issues! |

That's just $2.50 per issue and it's a whole lot of information for that price!

To me the videos alone are worth the price even if there was no magazine.

I am in communication with David Laflin right now about offering a sample issue for people to preview.
I'll keep you updated. |

I print the Grand Magic(s) all out and put them in a binder. You never know when you may need a routine from one of them in the future...
As a total unrelated aside, I purchased I believe from David Ginn at the 2013 FCM convention a set of "Eternal Rings." Marty Hahne (who was also selling these at his booth at Abbott's this year) has an excellent children's routine for this trick on page 67 of the September, 2013 issue of The Linking Ring. I intend to try out Marty's exact routine next Saturday for a free children's show our KaZoo Chapter of the FCM is putting on at 11AM at the huge Evergreen South apartment complex in Kalamazoo (in their clubhouse). Should be a great show, includes Carol Clark storyteller (and she is giving out free copies of her children's book "The Eternity Express" that she wrote and illustrated), MagicBob and SuZie, Alan Kazam most likely, and myself. We also will have the orange cover children's Testaments to hand out compliments of The Gideons. Later that same day, September 14, 2013, sometime on from 2-6pm, we will be on the downtown bandshell stage in Bronson Park in Kalamazoo as part of the "Celebrate Freedom Concert" which ends at 10pm and features the heavy metal Christian band "The Protest." |

The magazine is so good that I read it in one or two evenings, leaving me waiting eagerly, and rather impatiently, for the the next edition. I highly recommend it.

There was a great bit from the August issue regarding the nest of boxes which I will be adding to my show. I already do the nest of boxes, but this one idea was worth the subscription. I'm looking forward to doing it next Sunday. Thanks Duane.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Kudos to Duane for an awesome publication. I, like many of you, place each
issue in a binder for future reference. Only wish the vids were available for that purpose. Why has no one else thought of publishing something like that? 'unc
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and that's usually good enough to make a decent living.
