Most people have to pay for this information, so probably the best general advice you'll hear is to look into a commercially available set of plans, such as are available from Paul Osborne's Illusion Systems.

Just some general info....
Paul has plans also available in his illusion series of books on popular illusions. (Magicque - were you not using the Crystal Sawing at one time?) Anyway one of the first tips Paul gives is about learning how to scale, that is working out dimensions of props based on standard sizes ie. the height of a woman, man, table etc. There are now so many photos on-line you could even blow one up to actual size if you wished.
