"Scientist Predicts ‘Little Ice Age,’ Gets Icy Reception From Colleagues" "Zharkova and her team of researchers released a study on sunspot modeling, finding that solar activity could fall to levels not seen since the so-called “Little Ice Age” of the 1600s. Zharkova’s conclusions may have huge implications for global temperature modeling, but her analysis is not accepted by some climate scientists. Some of them were welcoming and discussing. But some of them were quite — I would say — pushy,” “They were trying to actually silence us,” she said. “Some of them contacted the Royal Astronomical Society, demanding, behind our back, that they withdraw our press release.”" |

It's possible that you've fallen behind on yours.
http://www.thegwpf.com/new-solar-researc......attacks/ (Global Warming Policy Forum, dated August 9, 2016) "Whatever we do to the planet, if everything is done only by the sun, then the temperature should drop similar like it was in the Maunder Minimum. At least in the Northern hemisphere, where this temperature is well protocoled and written. We didn’t have many measurements in the Southern hemisphere, we don’t know what will happen with that, but in the Northern hemisphere, we know it’s very well protocoled. The rivers are frozen. There are winters and no summers, and so on. So we only hope because these Maunder Minima will be shorter, the Maunder Minimum of the 17th century was about 65 years, the Maunder Minimum which we expect will be lasting not longer than 30-35 years." But really, the part I was most interested in was the attempt to silence a fellow scientist by the true believers. "Some of them were welcoming and discussing. But some of them were quite — I would say — pushy. They were trying to actually silence us. Some of them contacted the Royal Astronomical Society, demanding, behind our back, that they withdraw our press release. The Royal Astronomical Society replied to them and CCed to us and said, ‘Look, this is the work by the scientists who we support, please discuss this with them.’ We had about 8 or 10 exchanges by email, when I tried to prove my point, and I’m saying, I’m willing to look at what you do, I’m willing to see how our results we produced and what the sun has explained to us. So how this is transformed into climate we do not produce; we can only assume it should be. So we’re happy to work with you, and add to your data our results. So don’t take the sunspots which you get, we can give you our curve. Work with our curve. So they didn’t want to." |

Rockwall, I was responding to your "Scientist Predicts ‘Little Ice Age,’ Gets Icy Reception From Colleagues" -- Zarkhova made no such prediction, as was clarified a year ago.

There will be another ice age anyway.
No matter what they tell us No matter what they do No matter what they teach us What we believe is true

No chance of agreeing to disagree on this huh?
It's been 76 pages after all.

Actually it is sort of an indication of what happens in the world.
It is political talking points disguised as science. It is an ideological proxy fight. Each side dug in and fighting about what they don't know and don't agree upon instead of expanding what they do agree upon. Nobody ever giving an inch because the other side will take a mile. Meanwhile nothing ever gets done.

There are some things that are worth agreeing to disagree. e.g. policy objectives. This discussion stays alive because a small group of people simply refuse to believe the scientific data before their eyes. There is no honour in climate change denial. It is blind ideology masquerading as scientific skepticism.

Well lots of this is tied up in policy objectives.

Do the people who don't believe agree that the use of fossil fuels cause a level of pollution that's ultimately fatal, or can we go on polluting the earth indefinitely?
