(and you still haven’t answered my question… do you deny that AGW is occurring?) What are my “scientific” beliefs that you’re referring to, Danny? To clarify, I don’t have a menu of “scientific” beliefs, per se. I try to hold beliefs for good, sound reasons. And if it turns out that science supports them, so much the better. If it turns out that an issue is complicated and requires the resources of a community of specialized scientists to research, then I will defer to their studied conclusions (who would I be to disagree??). And if it turns out that one political party accepts the science on an issue and one party doesn’t, then I will be in agreement with the party that defers to science ON THAT ONE PARTICULAR ISSUE. I think that's the way to go, don't you? I posted a link to an article that quotes scientists and links to scientific studies in order to give a scientific answer to your question. Your response was “how stupid”. It’s therefore not a stretch to infer that you don’t have much respect for the science. Or do you? Do you accept the current scientific consensus that AGW is occurring, Danny? How about some honesty... from YOU! Ron

There is NO direct connection between the CO2 level and Global Warming .... Just because it's called a Greenhouse Gas does not mean it makes the temperatures rise ... Check any graph comparing the temperature and Co2 level... There is virtually no predictable relationship. The sun heats the earth .. always has...

How do you propose that information be collected and made available - and to who? How different are these requirements from just about any other kind of international trade agreement? There are long-standing "good enough" structures in place, already in use, used for centuries, which admittedly can be made better. Not a reason to dismiss such proposals out of hand, whether one agrees with them or not.

You have used NASA before as a source of credibility (p. 220 of this thread for one example). You can't have it both ways. So which is it? Ron

According to that interesting article, the Eisenhower warning against the scientific establishment had a very specific context:
Quote:
The science adviser at the time, eminent chemist George Kistiakowsky, said in a later interview with Greenberg that when he questioned Eisenhower about the remarks, the president tried to distinguish between academic research, which he supported, and expanding research by industry and others with military implications that he felt was dangerous. Eisenhower trusted the academics; distrusted industry and the military.

He distrusted government sponsored research. He warned against a military industrial complex and whoooo was he right.
It was also many years prior to what is happening now.
