How can I choose a reputable training site? I know it's best to get hands on training, but I'd like to know what to look for when choosing a site. Suggestions?

Not a website, but a seminar or classes offered.

Many performers also conduct trainings as well as the national guild. Some popular ones would be Marc Savard, Jerry Valley, Geoffrey Ronning, Gerald Klein, etc. as a point of consideration to start or compare.

Hi,

I would suggest Geoff Ronning at http://www.stagehypnosiscenter.com/.

I have purchased several items from them and have always been delighted
with the quality of their material and customer service.

Best wishes,

Scott
p.s. I have no affiliation with them.

It also depends upon the type of training you're looking for. If it's performance hypnosis, I'd suggesting going to the website of a performer you like and see if he/she offers training. If not, email and ask what that entertainer would recommend.

You can also see the James Tripp's videos on youtube (12 free tutorials), and then decide if is worthy for you to pay for the complete download of the two complete programmes he has. I did both and I'm very happy with the results!

Of course I'm going to reccommend mine. But before I do that let me ask this: What exactly do you want to learn?

Twistedace, you're jumping from one art form to another! Ignore the marketing replies here. What are you trying to achieve? Are you a Magician, a Mentalist, or a Hypnotist? Or, perhaps you're a hybrid of all three!

Anyway, as you well know, none of the three disciplines can be learned by looking for instant gratification on a web forum!

I do know that. I also know that I'm not going to be able to learn hypnotism and mentalism well at the same time. I'll be ducking out of here for a while.

No need to be "Ducking" from anywhere. Just be true to yourself & acknowledge what you're good at. I would never put myself forward as a Magician, because I'd be perceived as a S-it Magician. I will stick to what I have spent many years trying to be good at,and in this, I hope I can justify my asking fee.

Nothing personal, just my observation.

You have as much to offer as I have, or anyone else here, for that matter.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm in a period of transition. I'm moving away from magic and really enjoy mentalism. I've also always been fascinated with hypnosis. I am reminded of when I first started magic and I tried to learn as much as I could about many topics before focusing on a specific niche. This is a sort of new beginning. I have new interests and I'm reading as much as I can.

You could try the DVD sets "The Manchurian Approach" and "The Trilby Connection" by Anthony Jacquin. The first one is more for magicians while the second one is more for hypnosis in general, at a party, on the street, etc. (not stage however).

You could use these techniques also for "pseudo hypnosis", while doing mentalism. I like to bring a participant in a calm and relaxing state (using hypnotic techniques) and I tell her this way she becomes more open for telepathy, to the thoughts "I send her". If participants are hypnotized or not doesn't matter, I want them to make believe true telepathy is going and some "trick" Smile

Thanks Seadog!! We are doing it Feb 27 - March 3rd at my theater in Vegas at the Hooters casino hotel. A nice new addition to the training is you will get a dvd of yourself practicing on the stage the final day! There is a special hotel rate for studens and its only $1450 to register if done before Feb 1st (we choose that week so people could get cheaper airfare as well).

Hope you can make it!!

I have a serious question to ask. It will seem sarcastic but it is not.

How many hypnotists is your goal to put upon the world?
