It's time to use my gift card.
Which should I choose? If you have any feedback on either, I'd be much obliged. |

I can't stand reading from digital media. Gimme' a hard covered book anytime. But I'm an old fart.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I love my Kindle. It is the size of a small book and it is EXACTLY like reading from a book. It looks like real pages and real type. No glare, just like paper. I can even read it outdoors in bright sunlight, exactly like a regular book.
The main difference is that there are HUNDREDS of books on my Kindle, so I basically have an entire library with me when I travel. And a particularly useful feature for old farts like me is that I can enlarge the type when my eyes aren't focusing properly. Bob |

Maybe your comments will help to convert me. I DO like gadgets.

Bob-
Take a serious look at the Kindle. It is no different from reading a real book and is NOTHING like reading off a computer screen. It looks exactly like print on regular paper and has the same size and feel as a real book. I bought an excellent leather case for mine which makes it look just like a leather bound book. |

Thanks Bob, I'm moving into a closet size apartment and part of the master plan is no more books or magazines.

I thought Barnes and Noble was discontinuing the Nook.
I'm also looking at e reader as I'm travelling more. I'm pretty much sold on Kindle. Trying to decide on HD or paperwhite model

I got my wife a Kindle HD and she really loves it. I have seen both the Nook HD and Kindle HD and I think the Kindle HD is the better deal and better product. I would go to Best Buy and get a two year warranty on it as well.

I'm going on vacation in a couple weeks and I'm all excited about the audible book I downloaded for my ipod. I have too much nervous energy to sit still for more than 15 minutes, so I'll practice juggling with David Caridine reciting "On the Road" to me while I work up a sweat, and catch a tan.

I am biased. I have a Kindle Reader and a Kindle Fire. I am going to get the new Kindle HDX when it becomes available.
I read on my Kindle Reader and I watch video's, do e-mail, listen to my music collection and listen to the radio (local and Internet) and on occasion I listen to Police radio and Airport radio. I LOVE my Kindles You should read the reviews on the Internet and try these things out in the store, then make up your mind. Iven

Has anyone tried reading the latest editions of Vanish magazine on their reader? I have an early Sony, and the new Vanish overwhelms its little memory.
I mostly read plain vanilla texts, but Vanish is nice, and I'm annoyed about this. John

I have a Kindle and a Nook. I don't have a strong preference between them...I have the apps for both on my iPad, and do most of my e-reading on that.

@ LoboWolf Triple X,
Sheesh, why don't you rub it in...you have all of them? It's nice to see how the other half lives. I didn't like the fact that I had to purchase a wall charger for The Kindle as you can only charge it with a laptop or desktop via usb cable. Both hd screens were of same outstanding quality. The Nook comes packaged with a wall and usb charging option. Barnes and Noble has decided to keep producing the Nooks, so I picked one up. I am very happy with the unit overall. The memory is fine for holding hundreds of musical or book selections, but you will need to buy an SD Card, if one wishes to store movies or videos during your reading breaks. No biggie... Many thanks for all of the insights, they were helpful in my decision. I didn't even know what a Kindle was not too long ago. I still remember Bob Cassidy took the time to lay it out for me, Thanks bud. I also picked up a clever composition cover for my little tablet. |

I just have a cheap Cruz tablet with the Kindle app. It works fine for me. I still prefer paper books but there is something to be said for having a large library in my coat pocket.
