Hmmm, there are a lot of card tricks that are great for street magic, unfortunately some of them have been exposed through the Masked Magician Special on Fox but hopefully no one saw that special.
I would go for "in their hands" stuff. Search for great effects like:
-e-
...As long as i`m not a world-champion at anything, the great reactions of doin` magic will do just fine.....

Even though this is not a card trick I would recommend Coin Bite and The Raven.
Try Waving The Aces or 3 Card Monte. |

If you're looking for gimmicks go with Invisible deck, In a flash, or a Svengali deck.

Hands down pyro perception. it has never failed to get the best reactions out of all the effects I do

Any trick that doesn't require more than deck of cards, or anything David Blaine does.

Here then there always gets a huge reactions, as well as Mambo # 5 and my personal favorite - Fish Sandwhich.
OZ IS KING If your looking for selfowkring - the rising deck, aces in there faces, invisible deck, Svengali, one way decks, and the classic force into thought reader is always good.
Of course I can float, - can i borrow a jet pack from the audience please?

Made for the streets- Chap Trick by Mark Jenest. A card is torn and a corner is handed to a spectator. The remaining card vanishes and then reappears inside an impromptu magic wand: a tube of chap stick. It is so much fun to watch their faces as you take the cap off the chap stick and slowly turn the dial on the bottom making the card rise out of the tube.

If you won't be performing surrounded you could do a card manipulation act.

I'd prefer 2-card monte or pyro perception.
For those of you that said In a Flash - isn't that hard to perform without a table? |

Their is a ton of stuff in the Paul Harris Art of Astonishment trilogy that could easily fit into a street magic venue. Tons of it! Just look through the books and take your pick! In fact, Blaine used an effect or two from Paul Harris.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

To make people remember my name and to leave a mark of magic in their head, I eat lighted cigarettes.

I think acr is the best. but use the sudden deck to get into it.
The mind is too complicated to read,
but who is to say it can not be summarized? |

It is hard to narrow it down to just one trick.
A self working trick is pen through dollar. I get some of my best reactions from it. Look into loops. Making things move just a little bit makes people freak out. I wouldn't suggest full levitations on the street, because of lighting, but I can get away using loops everytime. After I wrote my last post I realized that I was in "pick a card". Having said that a good card trick that I like is Paul Harris Cross Twist. Or color cross twist. It gets great reactions. |
