Use it as an intro. Come out on stage with it. That would get everyone's attention.
I love unicycling...I need to pick up a new one though. Any advice?

Juggling on a unicycle might be too good to be kind of thrown away as an entrance piece. I'd suggest saving it for the end ... juggle one less object than you can [applause], jump on the uni, have a little trouble at first but succeed in riding it in a circle [applause], juggle the same number of objects while on the uni [applause], add another object and juggle [applause!], close by riding around backwards while juggling [continuous applause], hop off when you sense the applause fading, bow [renewed applause], exit.

Hey! Those are some good ideas...Yah unicyclings great and it's cool becase you can do tricks like jumping over stuff, backwards, one footed and no footed. If you want a new unicycle, go to a specialized or local bike shop and they should have a couple of choices (giraffe, norm, mountain/trials so on)

Make it look harder than it really is.
Use it as a finale.. If you do fire/machete's... even better. Have an audience member on the ground, a few feet away... and have him throw the juggling objects (you do clubs?) one by one. Throw in a few of the old obvious gags. And have him accept applause for each item he throws to you. Another routine I do is to have three members each with a item... riding past them... and having them throw them to me, when I say.. “Helper number one... THROW!”… “Helper number two.. THROW” ... “Helper number three... … HOLD ONTO IT!” <object is thrown prematurely, laughter follows>! Then juggle, if you can do a few tricks on the uni (under the leg, behind the back, one foot idle), even better. Under the leg is a good one.. Deadpan it. Announce you are about to do under the leg on the 5 foot suicycle.. It's just about the most unbelievable thing possible on a unicycle... make it look really hard, and they will appreciate it when you pull it off. Remember to take your time and build the routine up... And the style and way of dismounting is just as important as anything else.. Good luck. -malini |

Hey malini, those are some good ideas, and I like the idea of riding past people then throing them. I don't do fire or machetes but I'm working on clubs on the uni. I'll have to work on it in the summer.

I have a friend who has a 15 minute act which consists of climbing a free standing ladder, getting unto a giraffe uni and juggling on it. He's won many competitions with it. It's a very impressive feat. Look into all the ways you san get entertainment value from the whole situation.
Just getting up there and juggling is impressive yes but once you've seen it you've seen it. You need to build toward it as a finale. Get helpers up to pass you your clubs and have fun interacting with them. Build on the danger with a few comments about insurance or where's a good safe place for the audience to stand. edit: P.S. oops I missed Malini's post he seems too have covered most of this. Anyhow he gives some great advice. |

Keep in mind, that this is still a very rare skill. No matter WHAT you do you will get attention.
Heck, whenever I ride it outside to practice, people just stop and watch. I am doing nothing special, just riding it. It is a great way to attract a crowd.
