Alright, I admit I wanted to hit the 500 post mark before ducking out of here today. Most of the areas have questions like these so why not here?
If there was a mind blowing escape you could do, whether someone could actually do it or not, what would that escape be? There are so many possibilties if you put your mind to it. I've looked over some Steranko pictures that he has drawen, people say the escape depicted are impossible, why? With some thought and practice almost anything should be possible. I'm working on two of my own "impossibles" right now, one I hope to do at the 2004 EA/ Lock Show in Indy. Shawn

I would really like to escape from the memories of a few of my ex-girlfriends!
And lately I've been trying to think of something involving a wood chipper or escaping from the stomach of a man-eating animal. Hey... you said "dream" escape! |

I've got a dream escape that is in the preliminary stages of planning at this time. Let's just say it involves my preoccupation with vampires. It incorporates a wide variety of items such as coffins, wooden stakes, handcuffs, chains, and other various and assorted restraint devices, and should prove to be...uh...rather unique...if we can bring this idea to fruition. I'm hoping to have it ready for Halloween next year. We shall see!!

Hi,
I have an escape which myself and my crew are planning for inclusion in a television special for the spring or summer. It is called "Frontier of Destruction" and is a very dangerous escape of a type never before attepted by any EA. At this point I can only say it will involve a very large piece of construction/destruction equipment and will have a rather violent and spectacular outcome that is quite capable of destroying yours truly if I am not successful. The Chinese Water torture cell. Yes, I know this has been performed many times before, but not by me! At least, not yet. It's my dream escape - for now at least!

One part of me wants to do an escape from an exploding box where the timer is set by telephone vote...the other is where I go longer in the water torture cell than Chris Angel did....(anyone wanting to help can PM me)
Or going away from the big escapes, I'd like to try and fee myself from a set of starwheel handcuffs and a locked cage using nothing more than a can of Diet Cola and a candy bar. |

Dream escape......prison transport gear inside of a cage with spikes that will come straight through on a digital timer that also controls the electro magnet of a car crane and the 72 eldorado that drops and crushes the cage about 3 seconds after the spikes penetrate the cage.

I think the ultimate impossible escape I could think of would be to totally be cast inside of a 10 ton concrete block. Let it harden, then break out of it three days later like superman. No illusion, the real deal. I am working on some concrete escape ideas right now, but it will not turn out to be the ultimate I just mentioned. It will involve being chained up, entombed inside concrete, and waiting for it to harden 24 hours before breaking out. But I won't be cast directly into it as would be the ultimate challenge.

I'd be happy to be able to have the time to learn how to perform some of the better known escapes well. I know the basic principles behind how some of them work, but I also appreciate that a LOT of practice and rehearsing is required to make the escape look convincing in front of an audience.

I’d like to escape from being burnt at the stake, as a period piece (full inquisition style setting).

Hey, some Renn Faire magicians and I were brainstorming the burning at the stake escape! We were going to try to actually do it, but one of the guys instrumental in putting it together moved away and left no forwarding address!

This used to be a regular stunt at the outside shows here in the UK. A large stake was surrounded by straw bales, the performer stood on the bales with his hands behind him chained or roped behind the stake, bales were fired and he would wait until the last second before jumping forward through the flames. The performers name escapes me but I do know that on the last occassion the wind turned and he received substantial burns. I have not seen this stunt performed here for many years.

I remember hearing about it on the T.V. news as far away as here in California. The guy had third degree burns. It was quite a few years ago. We have also considered a burning at the stake escape, but there is enough air pollution already.

Well let's just say it involves being tied up by the Swedish Bikini Team. And who really wants to escape that?

I think Houdini's idea of being frozen in a block of ice is the best visual, but it would be hard to bring off.
I put together a dozen or so ideas for Viano years ago of this type that have never been used. If there is an interest let me know. |
