Michael, can you tell how much do you charge for a Kadar reading?
|

Michael_MacDonald 1964 - 2016 Washington 2034 Posts |
My weekly gig I do not charge as I am WELL paid by the event. but the sitter usually drops a 20 anyways as a tip.
when I read private or at pay per reading events I charge depending on how many mins I'm reading. usually $1 per min. |

What do you think of this deck?
It's produced by Conjuring Arts. I think the theme fits well. http://conjuringarts.org/2011/09/ask-ale......t-knows/ |

It looks nice, but if you can hang on, Mr Gould and the Alchemy Moon goblins are currently working on a completely custom Kadar themed poker deck:

Nice finds, Michael! I think I'll pass on the Zodiac cards unless I see them cheaper, but there are likely more affordable options, I'm sure.
Can't wait for the Kadar cards. Love the Kirby-esque style artwork. Bruce Timm was once quoted as saying it was impossible to out-Kirby Kirby...although I think Mr. Gould has come very close. |

Wow Keith,
That is the biggest and best compliment I have ever had. However, I do not think I can claim to come close to the master -but it is funny how these influences play out. Since Early childhood I was an avid collector of Marvel Comics from the silver period. I had every comic pencilled by 'Jolly' Jack Kirby, and my particular favourite Steve (freekin bonkers) Ditko, and pretty much every other comic from that era. When I got myself a girlfriend (now wife) I thought - 'you had better get rid of these childish things if you wanna keep the gurl!' So I sold them all for beans. Worse thing I ever did (selling the comics that is!), I would be a millionaire now! Ah, well. Anyway, the original idea for the Kadar cards was to have them in an old 50's Seaside amusement arcade style, but clearly the spirit of Mr Kirby did come down and lend a hand. Anyway, I have now finished the bulk of the cards and I am thrilled by the result, they really look something else, if you can excuse me a rare boastful moment. Believe me, you guys will be 'over the Moon' when you get to see them. I am meeting up with Costas from Magic Tao next week to finalise it all and launch the kickstarter. We are more than confident that we will make the target. However, get behind this if you want to hold a pack in your hands. So what exactly is the Kadar Poker Card set? Well, on the surface it is a 'novelty' deck of poker cards. Most of them will sell to 'card guys' and collectors who will only see this surface level. However, you guys are going to be able to understand what they really are. Well, sure, you can play poker with them and perform any card 'trick' out there - although be careful, as you will be raising the thirteen Kadri each time you do! The next layer will be the complete Kadar system only in the form of these rather bizarre playing cards. This will use the court cards, the aces and the two jokers (we have to sneak Mysterion in there somehow!). Obviously, as there are 14 Kadar cards, the system has been expanded considerably. On top of this, there is another layer that uses *all* of the cards. This allows you to perform a one ahead reading system. This is devastatingly effective for those of you who do not mind using a little trickery in your readings. With this, the sitter tells you everything *before* the reading starts. This is just skimming the surface of what these cards can do. Believe me, you are going to love these! But what of Kadar Elite? Well, this is still the gold standard for the working pro. The system has become very popular with professional readers. So much so that making up sets is all I seem to do these days. Sometimes, I have to let things go, or I will get stuck just making the one thing. So the sad news is that I will be phasing Kadar Elite out after the current batch. However, it is not the end of the road... there are plans. I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the very positive feedback on Kadar. You guys are the jewel in his turban!

This saddens me..... the era of Kadar elite is coming to an end. of all the reading systems I use it is by far my favorite. perhaps I should get a set of the kader kings so that I have something to use and can put away my original kader set to protect it. One of my children has already called dibs on it when I retire.
I will be adding in my Kadar deck once it is put out. I have even been building up my zoltar set as I am finding some fun items to go with that. I wonder if Chris is going to put a wrap on the Kadar cards????? |

It is not exactly the end of an era on Kadar, but the start of a new one.
I am retiring the Kadar Elite. I have about five Elite sets left and I am no hurry to sell them, as it would be good to have some held back. As with the Cuss Cards Elite and DITF Elite - you have something quite rare and special if you already have one. My aim with all of the Alchemy Moon lines is consistent. I bring out the (it kills me to make it) Elite version first. Then when I get to the point that it is no longer fun to make them, I retire the Elite version and bring out the pro version. The pro versions are the same routine, but I have cut the props down to the bare minimum. Sometimes, as with the DITF pro, the pro set ends up looking almost as good as the Elite version anyway. So I guess the Elite versions are aimed at the serious collector, whereas the Pro versions are aimed squarely at the working pro. So, all of you Kadar practitioners who are waiting in the wings, there *are* still a few Elite versions left - but you can also wait for the Pro version and save a few bucks. Kadar has become enormously popular and I think it has the potential of becoming a major reading system. The feedback from working readers has led me to think this. So, I do have plans for world domination with Kadar! Later down the road I will be bringing out an entry level Kadar - these will be similar to the Pitch books that you guys are using to generate some extra cash. That is, they will be the complete Kadar system, but cut to the bone. For example, cardboard cards, rather than the solid cards that come with the Elite version. Also, to respect the pro Kadar reader, not all of the deeper secrets will be available on the entry level. But it will still be capable of a full Kadar reading and will have the advantage of being priced so that everyone can afford a set. Of course there is the Kadar Poker Card set on the horizon too.... Here is a taster of what the backs will look like. those of you signed up to the Alchemy Moon pinterest bord will get to see more ;-) These cards are going to be something else! Also, I think Mat's new add on to the Kadar Universe is a 'must buy', especially as it is free! Then, as soon as time allows, there are the Kadar Dice of fate and the 'Game of Kadar' (a fun board game aiming at having the secondary effect of teaching cold reading to the players) So Kadar is anything but dead. ....we may even reveal who the Kadri *really* are! 8-0 Good news for Cuss Card fans too. As you all know, CC Elite is no longer available (alas - as I have had some very wild postpositions to make 'just one more set')- I even ended up selling my own set - so if anyone knows of one going on sale.....! However, it was never my intention to retire the pro range (or the 'Kings Edition') - it is just lack of time that took these off the market. But I do intend to put the Kings back on the shelf in the new year. Stay tuned!

In the basic set there is already a strange board of a forgotten boardgame.
I haven't used yet but it's worth a collective brainstorming session. How do you use it, Michael? |
