Raymond Crowe is an Australian who calls himself an Unusualist.

He's a magician, a juggler, a ventriloquist, a comedian ... and a hand-shadow master.

Please give two minutes of your time to this stunning - and heartwarming - performance:

There was a hand-shadow performer on Hollywood Palace once who included shadow portraits of famous people like FDR and JFK. Can't remember his name, though. He might have been South American. Couldn't find a clip on youtube either.

I saw a great shadow act at an Abbott' get together Saturday night show
about 20 years ago;
Maybe someone has an old program showing his name. ...

Sati Achath is a hand shadow artist from India, but I'm not sure he's the one who was on Hollywood Palace. He has a website at:
http://www.satiachath.net/hand-shadows.html
with some video clips.

Probably wss the late Marcello Contento who learned from David Bamberg.

Todd Charles Steinberg and Woody Rathbone ( think that was his last name from NY) did one. Jay Marshall did it once at a collector's using some of the Max Holden props.

It might have been Sonny Fontana. (That would be an embarrassing lack of name recall. Smile ) I saw him at an Atlanta Harvest convention almost 20 years ago. Great act.

That was probably Jay Marshall. Besides magic, ventriloquism, comedy (MOP ROUTINE, Salute gags, etc.) Jasper was very adept with shadows.
He had appeared at Abbott GTG so many times, he wanted to do something different.

In the middle of the act, the screen was blank for a (very) few seconds. A FLY got between the light and the screen and buzzed around. Jay's adlib was instant --and, the best line of the evening: "...And, Greg said, 'A shadowgraph act wouldn't draw flies.1'"

INCIDENTALLY...........I have a small suitcase full (remember the guy with the suitcase full of pancakes!!!) of shadowgraph "fekes". I think there are two sets of fekes, but don't know "whose" they were. If someone has need of same, I could be persuaded to dispose of them.

Don't forget the remarkable Hans Davis!

This Belgian "Magician/ Shadowist" always got great reaction in both the Wizardz Dinner Theatre in Los Angeles and at the one in Japan as well.

I booked him as often as I could!

Here here is on a clip:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxNgYaeWb1A

There are very few people that have mastered this art form. Thus your question is gone unanswered, here is my response.

If you are interested in the Hand Shadowgrapy; I suggest you buy the Shadowgraphy by Greco, put out by Bazar De Magia. They have produced 2 volumes on this art form. It covers you question and the equipment used by famous magicians from the past. The with your new gained knowledge, simply go to a lighting retail store and talk with then of your needs.

With the new technology in lighting, and pin point lighting, I am sure you will find a modern solution to present Shadowgraphy.

Raymond Crowe also made a DVD on Hand Shadows, I reference an out of stock listing, but you may find it on another website if you are motivated to do so.
