When I post there is a box that says Attachment:
I tried several times to post a picture but it doesn't show up. I made sure it was within the image size allowed. Is there a trick? |

I had difficulties earlier this week with the Attachment function. It has worked in the past. Maybe something changed when we migrated servers?
...what if I could read your mind?

To post an image so that it appears in your post, you don't use the "attachment" function. Instead you use the BBC image tag, which is described here:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/faq.php#bbcode Just scroll down to the section on "Adding Images." |

I've been having a similar I ssue.
The FAQ gives instructions on how to add an image from a website (URL) but what if I want to post an image that resides on my hard drive rather than on a website.

Is the BB code method a work around? The attachment button is right there and there is nothing to indicate it shouldn't work. How many people a day try to use it? How much time is wasted? Wouldn't it make sense to fix it or get rid of it?

No. The BB code is just a simple type of html and uses basically the same img tag. Unlike the attachment function, this puts the image into the post itself.

Where is that "How to post pictures for dummies book" when you need it! Mastermindreader is trying to help, but all I'm getting is gibberish. Anyway, Thanks

In order to use Mastermindreaders method you have to first upload your picture somewhere. This can be done for free but you have to find a service and sign up. THEN you can use BBcode to display it in your post.
This is a lot different from just using the attachment button as you can do on many forums. |

The attachment function has had a few problems recently. Once fixed, you will be able to upload and image using the attachment button.

If Flickr doesn't work, can someone recommend any free photo hosting service that will work here. I also have photos on Facebook. Thanks, Ihor

You can build a free website on Google (Just go to Google sites) Upload pictures there and then link to them with the bb code.
The thing with attachments is that the file size is so limited (75 Kb with a max 500 X 300 pixels). And the pictures won't show up in your post anyway. You'll just have a link on your post that says "View attachment." |

I've tried more than once to put a small picture in a post of mine, but nothing to do...
What is the right process to do? |

If you're getting errors saying the attachment is too large, then you have exceeded the 500 x 700 Pixel range. If you are getting some other messages or the attachment isn't uploading, check the name of your file. The Café software is sometimes particular about using punctuation marks in file titles like quotation marks, exclamation marks, underscores etc.

Lunapic.com is a free site to resize your images and even link them via imgur. It is what I use and you can also use it to resize your profile picture if you are having issues there as well.
