All:
What are some good ring and rope resources - books, vids, etc.? Is there a classic or "standard" resource for this? I'm interested in, mainly, one rope (really) and one ring moves... Thanks. Frank

Finger ring on Rope-- Gregory Wilson's Ring Leader Video
Ring on Rope - Tabary's Rope Magic Volume 2 and I think that Daryl has some on his Expert Rope Magic Made Easy DvDs that were just re-released from L+L. |

Add Aldo Colombini (various videos) and Mark Leveridge (Master Routines) - both for larger rings. Dan Harlan also on one of his videos (can't remember which) and Jeff McBride (Either Commando Act or Stage Magic video) both have some nice moves with large ring and rope.

Earl Nelson's Variations has some excellent ring moves.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

Hi Frank:
Are you looking for material for a bracelet type ring or a smaller finger ring? Ron |

Phil Wilmarth published some great material on rings (actually bracelets) and rope back in the mid-70's IIRC. Magic Inc still has a few copies, I believe.
Dan Garrett has a terrific routine on his tape"Close-Up Connivery." The finish to the finger ring and rope routine is one of the most startling moments one can have doing a routine of this kind. Jerry Mentzer also published a book Called Magic With Finger Rings that has some really good material too. Lee Darrow, C.Ht. http://www.leedarrow.com

Eric De Camps has a great routine on his video that Tannen's put out. If you are using a bracelet size ring.

I agree with Lee, Phil Wilmarth has had the best for the money I have seen out there. If you get to see any magic in the mid-west, catch Stephon Johnson doing Phil Wilmarth tricks well routined and very well presented. He always blows me away. (I'm glad he doesn't travel!)

Daryl's ring and rope routine is on his Fooler Dooler videos, and is really good, as is the rest of the effects on the videos. DeCamps routine shares some phases with Daryl's. Tabary's Ring & Rope is really good, as is the entire rope routine.

The Gregory Wilson "Ring Leader" video is almost a mini encyclopedia of ring and rope moves. Plus, it comes with a rope and motivational patter for using it!

Check out Jay Scott Berry's "Symphony on Ring and Ribbon" for further ideas.

With a bigger ring check out avid Williamson's routine. It is on his RonMacMilan lecture video. It is simply the best I have ever seen and I have seen many.

Thanks for all the info!
I couldn't pass up all of Daryl's Fooler Dooler's Vids (1/2 price, close-out sale). Turns out that Daryl's routine was exactly what I was looking for - it's the bracelet-sized ring and 1 piece of rope. Thanks again, Frank

In The Best of Gary Ouellet vol 1 there is a ring and rope routine. It is no where near the level of ring leader or relentless ring and string as far as sources for sleights and moves. It is a very cool routine, though. Instead of the ring just penetrating the rope it appears on the finger after every phase, I recently got the dvd and really enjoy the ring and rope trick.

I just recieved Gregory Wilson's Ring Leader Video today. It is absolutely superb! There is TONS of information on that video. It will definitely become a mainstream in my restaurant/close-up repertoire.

Frank:
One of the best books on finger ring magic that I know of is the book that one poster already mentioned above. It is called, Magic with Finger Rings by Jerry Mentzer. Take a look at this book. It has just about every finger ring trick you can think of in it.
