What are everyone’s thoughts on doing predominately card magic for table hopping? How many card effects do you include in your set?
Thanks, Mike.

I usually only work with cards while strolling. Just personal choice. I get very strong responses, because I use very strong material. My sets usually have between 3 and 5 effects depending on how long I can stay at a table.

There seems to just be something about cards that people adhere to. But every now and then, while I'm neck deep in a card routine, someone asks for a coin trick. So I guess you can't please everyone!

I open with cards and then move to other stuff.
If I stop early, then it ends up being just cards. Otherwise I throw in spongeballs and coins, etc. If you're good at it, then it does not matter what you use. Could be all cards. Even in a stand-up show. Simon Lovell, for instance.

In the 'conveyor belt' jobs of Xmas, 3 out of 4 of my effects at the tables are card effects. One casual job though, I made an effort to not do any card tricks. That was very refreshing.
Some people say you should not start a set with a card trick. If you have personality, you can start with absolutely anything. Whether you *should* or not is another question.
